  Beam deflectors for the continent
Posted by: unfazed - 11-09-19, 09:17 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Fed up of fellows in France flashing me because of my lights and with me slowing thinking it might be the police or cameras, I decided to make up my own Beam deflectors before I headed of to France this time
Standard over the counter beam deflectors are not really any good on the Fazers as it is the reflector which deflects the beam not the lens.
They worked a treat  Big Grin as the only time I was flashed was by another biker to warn of a police car stopped about a kilometer ahead, when I was tipping along a 'little' over the limit  :eek on a back road heading to see Merlins Tomb and the Fountain of Youth.
Backed off to 90K and saw the car with no one in it and then saw two officers inside in the middle of a field talking to a farmer on his tractor.

  Easy pull clutch adaptor
Posted by: Mustang - 10-09-19, 07:36 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (14)

clutch pull on the mighty 1000 is fatiguing for my weak man hands so I sourced one of these and just fitted it up. Took a bit of messing about as it reduces the throw of the main clutch cable so you need to remove as much slack as possible, anyway I did a video of it, 2 parts as my neighbour walked past as I was recording. Been on test and it selects gears and neutral ok , 1st attempt without taking all slack up at the clutch case end resulted in clutch not fully disengaging with lever pulled in.
I realise this isn’t an issue for most riders but could be for those like me who ain’t getting any stronger. I considered an hydraulic option but for £15 this is as light as I think you will get. My Ducati 996 hydraulic clutch was so heavy it needed 2 hands.

  FZS1000 fast idle
Posted by: ptolemyx - 10-09-19, 02:49 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

Bike has been laid up for a while. I had the carb's ultrasonic cleaned because the throttle valves were stuck in the closed position . They had previously been full monty Ivanised by Mike and all was well up until I had to stop riding the bike. Now has 7k error code which is obviously the EXUP faulty after a period of non-running. I will sort this out but...….
Bike started up fine but settled to a very fast idle, well over 2000rpm and fiddling with the idle adjuster does nothing. Is this likely to be due to the EXUP  before I check the throttle cables and, if needed, tear the carb's back off - which I'm loathe to do yet again? Could the fast idle be due to incorrect float heights when reassembled by the ultrasonic guys at Ragged Moto?

  fuel system sorted.
Posted by: M4RTIN - 06-09-19, 07:36 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (2)

So Joy has been having some problems with the fazer 6.
It kept stalling at lights or low revs. The rev would also hang for a second or to.
And when she got it going afterwards there was black smoke out of the exhaust.
So 2 weeks ago i bought a secondhand fuel system to swap over.
This afternoon i had time to take it all apart and see what was wrong.
As soon as i removed the fuel system i could see the problem.
Injector 2,3 & 4 were leaking as they were wet and Number 1 was bone dry.
The bike was in a very poor way when we going it and standing for some years.
I also pulled the plugs and they were black but not with soot. So i bought new plugs.
So i got the plugs and fuel system fitted and the bike started first time which was a good thing.
I got it up to temp and revved up the engine. there was no hanging of revs and it idle around 1200rpm.
So i just need to put the rest of it back together in the morning and take it for a test ride.
Will let you know if i have to call the AA or not lmao.

Posted by: M4RTIN - 06-09-19, 05:47 AM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (4)

I am looking for ways to help my wife with her bike. I have got it all sorted for her apart from the weight. It is a very top heavy bike, and i am looking for a aftermarket exhaust to fit on it.
But before i buy one can anyone tell me if it help make the bike feel lighter changing the exhaust. Also any thoughts on what else i could do to remove top end weight from the bike.
