Is anybody changing the rear tyre soon? Trying a 170/60 may be nice
Posted by: Motorbreath - 11-12-11, 07:14 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (18)

I think I wrote about it in the old forum, but not sure.

Anyway I found that 170/60 is the recommended size for 5" width rims (like the ones of our fazers) by the tyre manufacturers charts. 160/60 are for 4,5" rims like the ones of SV650. So Fazers came standard with a flattened tyre!

I purchased a 3,5" front rim from a Yamaha TRX850, which will allow 120 front tyres (thanks to the mate HybridYZF for the advise). Soon it will be installed and I will report how it goes but the rear tyre is still quite fresh so it will took a while before I change it.

So I ask anybody to try a 170/60 and tell us how it goes

Thanks

  Don't know my own strength

Undoing suspension linkage bolts today to grease the bearings and swap out the shock for an R6 one (Ohlins needs a service) and I managed to wrench the bike off the centrestand.  :o

Heave-ho with a 17mm spanner on one of the dogbone bolts and before I knew it, bike had rotated over the fulcrum and down she went on the right side.  Good job in a way 'cos I was lying on the left ... mind you, I'd have taking a few bruises to save the Akra can.  Crash bungs prevented any damage to bodywork or tank but the can fell onto the shaft of a hammer.  Doh!  :\

I think I'll be able to do a cut 'n' shut job to take out the damaged section.  Hope so.  Meanwhile, I'm feeling mighty clumsy and dumb ... note to self, R1 forks shift the balance point of the centrestand and make it easier to throw the bike over.

  Paint
Posted by: Gromit - 11-12-11, 05:45 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (1)

Hi guys, recently bought a red & black 2000 fzs600. Very good condition apart from a scratch on the tank. Its too big to polish out and its down to bare metal. Only fix would be touch up paint or a respray. Does anyone know the paint code for the red half of the tank and where i'd be able to get it from.
Thanks.

the nuts are very corroded and most have nothing to get a socket on them,i have got off ebay a nut splitter http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130558280374?s...1439.l2649 so now i do not have an excuss as to why i cannot get them off,a couple of weeks a go i also bought a tap and die set from lidle cheap,so when the nuts are off i can clean the threads up and i have some nice stainless cap head nuts to go on so no more rust plus as the end of the nuts are sealed the studs wont rust on the threads

  FZ8 in Grimsby
Posted by: Tagsantite - 10-12-11, 11:28 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (3)

Hi All,
Have just taken delivery of a 2011 FZ8. Not had chance to take it out yet as it was chucking it down with rain when they dropped it off and I have been working the last couple of days.
Hopefully, if we get a break in the clouds tomorrow I'll give it a bit of a thrashing!
Any advice about aftermarket pipes would be appreciated.

  battery charging
Posted by: phil on a fazer - 10-12-11, 05:37 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Howdy

When you start you bike your battery takes a wack, so the alternator charges the battery as you ride. yeah?so....when does it start charging? does it only start charging at a certain RPM....or time limit...or just straight away?

And also how long would it take the alternator to charge to battery back to 100%?

I was just wondering  Big Grin
