  bit bloody nippy
Posted by: Just Anne - 12-12-11, 08:14 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

How do I stop from thinking, ah nice sunny day, best ride the bike to work. How stupid am I :eek

25 miles later, slipping all around then get to work and can't undo me lid, thank god for secretaries! It takes 30 minutes for my fingers to stop feeling like they will explode then have to do the reverse in the foccin' dark.

Mad, just quite mad :rolleyes  note to self....December is a bit too nippy for an old bird.

  LED, batteries, and current
Posted by: phil on a fazer - 12-12-11, 07:39 PM - Forum: General - Replies (18)

Afternoon peeps

I'm interested in buying a 10W LED floodlight (12v/24v) to run off a car/deep cycle battery.
http://www.onsolar.co.uk/12V-10W-LED-Floodlight.htm

I currently have a 60W spot light. Its like the ones you see on the roof of utility vans or land rovers - its round with a plastic mesh on it.

So if its 60W and runs from 12V does that mean it draws 5ah? the LED floodlight draws 900ma at 12V or 450ma at 24V.

If i linked to 12v batteries together in series it would give me 24V so the light would draw 450ma. So is that 225ma from each battery?

I know your only supposed to put batteries in series if they are the same age, condition and type. I have two leisure batteries that are the same but not quite in the same state. One charges to 13.24V and the other will fully charge to 12.82v. (which my charger class's as "weak" ??)

so.....i take it i shouldn't wire those two batteries in series?  :o

Cheers

  FZ6 Fazer S2 MY-09 FOR SALE.
Posted by: Alank - 12-12-11, 12:07 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Hey all,

Helping out a friend with this posting, mate's recently passed away after a brief battle with Cancer, and I am helping his wife sell his Fazer.

I know its a bit cheeky signing up for a forum just to sell a bike, but Steve would have been keen to see the bike go to an enthusiast!..

Any ooh details as follows.

MY-09
Blue Fazer S2 FZ6 - Bought as an ex-demo bike, so currently 2nd owner, however it was still in the shipping crate to the shop when it was registered to Steve.

In the 2.5 years of ownership, it's only done 4000 miles, and pretty much 99% of this has just been on local short ride out's with me..  He was fanatical about looking after it, therefore its never been ridden in the rain, and is kept in a spotless condition..

I don't know what else there is to say about it, it hasn't had its first MOT yet and its Tax runs out early next year, although its currently on SORN.

The bike is Essex based, and I am handling all inquiries on behalf of his wife, as you can imagine this is a difficult time.

She's asking £3750, not for the money but the principle that Steve loved this bike, and although there is some flexibility in the price she wouldn't want it to go too cheap.

Feel free to email me through here if interested or phone/text 07809 879982 (Alan)..

Ride safe!

Is anybody changing the rear tyre soon? Trying a 170/60 may be nice
Posted by: Motorbreath - 11-12-11, 07:14 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (18)

I think I wrote about it in the old forum, but not sure.

Anyway I found that 170/60 is the recommended size for 5" width rims (like the ones of our fazers) by the tyre manufacturers charts. 160/60 are for 4,5" rims like the ones of SV650. So Fazers came standard with a flattened tyre!

I purchased a 3,5" front rim from a Yamaha TRX850, which will allow 120 front tyres (thanks to the mate HybridYZF for the advise). Soon it will be installed and I will report how it goes but the rear tyre is still quite fresh so it will took a while before I change it.

So I ask anybody to try a 170/60 and tell us how it goes

Thanks

  Don't know my own strength
Posted by: Falcon 269 - 11-12-11, 06:08 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (29)

Undoing suspension linkage bolts today to grease the bearings and swap out the shock for an R6 one (Ohlins needs a service) and I managed to wrench the bike off the centrestand.  :o

Heave-ho with a 17mm spanner on one of the dogbone bolts and before I knew it, bike had rotated over the fulcrum and down she went on the right side.  Good job in a way 'cos I was lying on the left ... mind you, I'd have taking a few bruises to save the Akra can.  Crash bungs prevented any damage to bodywork or tank but the can fell onto the shaft of a hammer.  Doh!  :\

I think I'll be able to do a cut 'n' shut job to take out the damaged section.  Hope so.  Meanwhile, I'm feeling mighty clumsy and dumb ... note to self, R1 forks shift the balance point of the centrestand and make it easier to throw the bike over.
