  Battery charging problem
Posted by: howardmoon - 05-02-12, 12:27 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Hi fellow Fazers,

My Gen 1 needed a battery recharge after not being ridden for only a week. It did recharge OK but it took a over 24 hours to do so. With the battery on the bike I checked the voltage. When revved to 5k the voltage reads 13.9 volts, but at tickover it drops to 11.8 or 11.9 volts. Does this point to the battery or the charging system being duff?

Many thanks, Paul

I live in Tamworth & ride a 2002 Fazer6...I used to be on the old forum for a while and that sort of 'fizzled out' :z

I have been riding for almost 10 years and have also owned the Fazer for almost 10 years!

  Pattern Parts?
Posted by: dogruff - 05-02-12, 09:27 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Just received fuel cap (pattern) from China for the grand sum of £12 freepost for MK1.Looked great until i tried to fit it ,Nice finish, hole spaces correct, arguably as good as oem,but sits high, ie not flush.Had a look at the seal and the aftermarket was thicker,so changed the inners and now it sits even higher, around 3mm.Will look at it again at some stage.Anyone had similar problems.Anyone tried the R1 ring and quick release fuel cap for fit? (3 holes).

Battery on or off for winter lay up?
Posted by: squiz - 05-02-12, 08:31 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

morning all Smile

just a quick one that some may find abit daft but here goes,

winters here blah blah....since moveing to the main land from the isle of man i dont have a garage for the bike so it lives out side next to my shed that is 12 inchs to short to fit bike in(fckin typical)..anyway...i have it covered with an oxford all weather stormtech cover so all is good....gave a good coating all over with a rag and wd40 before hand, now question is...

..shall i take battery off and leave in the house or start the bike once week? the bike wont get used now till the threat of snow has passed so cld be weeks cld be months.

anything else i should consider?

Hi guys,Great site!
Just parted with the old Exup(gettin'on a bit) and ended up with a FZS600s.Unsure what to do with the old girl yet as shes had a minorish bump to the front end.At the end of the day she's good craic on the road and is definitely a keeper.Just finding my way round it at present,as i do most of my own work.May try the headlight mod or attempt to MKII the front end,may even just go for a respray in an odd non standard colour.
Well thats it from rainy old Belfast at the moment.Nice to see the old Fazers being given the respect they deserve,Cheers,D.
