Hello Foccers,
Greetings from Guernsey, I'm Joe - 2005 Fazer thou has been my daily transport for 3 yrs. I've just worn in a set of Pilot Road 3s which I've found to be really stable in the wet winter and surprisingly flickable in the summer. Enjoying the update from yuku, congrats admins - seemed like a good time to join up!.
Mods so far:
15 / 47 gearing with speedohealer
25mm raised rear
In the pipeline:
R6 Shock...
Cheers,
Joe43

Just joined the venerable ranks of you Foccers on Thursday (Gen 1 thou) so I braved the cold yesterday for a 30 minute local blast just to savour the sheer brutishness of my new girl.
I pull up to a roundabout from which I want to do a left onto the Amersham bypass because you can really throttle it there and it's a gloriously long right hand sweeper. At the roundabout, I give way to an Audi TT who is going the same way so I think, Oh goody - a TT to humiliate ( my favourite victim) and as soon as he enters the carriage way I follow and prepare to overtake him - on his right natch. Just as I gun it, the cunt decides to slam his brakes on and do a U-turn - he'd obviously taken a wrong turn.
I wack me anchors on and make a reasonable fist of it except for a bit of rear end snaking (why do I always overdo the back brake in emergency) and that is that, I miss his rear end by inches.
The point is, I think, that had I gone for it about 0.2 of a second sooner, I would have ended up under the Audi. The margins on these beautiful toys of ours are so fine.
Remember chaps - luck always runs out in the end.

Why does my Fazer sound like a sewing machine having a fight when its idling? |

New to Fazers here,,
Bought the bike last week, happy with it etc, it all does what it's supposed to BUT!
When the bike's idling it's a bit rough sounding like a sewing machine. No cam chain rattle as such, just lumpy. Over 2000 revs, happy days! Thinking it could be the carbs need balancing but under throttle goes great.
I do a lot of filtering through London at low revs and it can get to be a pain. Do they all do that, Sir?

Frozen Fazer |

Had my 04 gen 1 from new, 53k on the clock and it's never let me down, until this morning that is. I use it for a 65 mile round trip commute in all winds and weathers. Bike lives outside and this morning looked a tad chilly. Ignition lock was frozen, freed that by warming the key up but no response when I hit the starter button, no click, nothing. Clutch is frozen solid too. I'm guessing one of the switches that stop you riding off with the stand down or similar is playing up but working on a bike in these conditions is no fun. Having cuppa and a fag now while I work out what to do next. The joys of winter motorcycling, eh?
