Anyone got a broken Givi Monokey pannier??
Posted by: roxburd - 30-11-19, 05:02 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

I've recently started volunteering with SERV (the bloodrunners) and I need to make up a board to strap the boxes on to the back of my Fazer - I have a Givi Monokey plate on there and I want to make the board up from a sheet of aluminium with angle riveted round the edge and the locating and locking bits from a pannier riveted on too so it will snap on and off the plate like a pannier.

Panniers sell on eBay for £30 but I don't really need an intact one - a smashed-up one will do fine if the locating and locking bits are salvageable.

I'm happy to pay for the bits and postage.

It has to be Monokey rather than Monolock to fit the plate.

Cheers,
Dave

  Post your 'Winter hack' bikes
Posted by: F4celess - 29-11-19, 02:45 PM - Forum: General - Replies (21)

Anyone switch to a Winter hack (BIKE) through these dark/wet winter months? Extra points added for Pictures of their winter bike. Smile

Considering a cheap winter runaround. So can stay on a bike, while the FAZER is locked away for when better weather returns (and avoiding salty/wet/mucky roads).
As someone was saying in another thread - " a bike will always look worse coming out of winter than it did going in.  ".

A twist and go scooter might suit the bill, for a few giggles! Smile

Is this the best standard paint job on any bike ever?

If not what is? Kind of related to the cool bike thread, can a paint job make a bike cool/cooler?

If your after a Gen 2 rear seat...
Posted by: Dudeofrude - 27-11-19, 03:14 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - No Replies

I never got one with my bike so I've been trying to get hold of a reasonably priced one for over 3 years!! Well low and behold last week our good friends in China started making a copy one and are selling it for the reasonable price of £39.99.
That's about £20 cheaper than a 'wrecked' one I'd had on my watch list for 6 months so I took a punt.
Ordered it on 20th November and arrived today so 7 day fully tracked shipping direct from China. No import fees or taxes (may have just been lucky)

It seem well made enough, nice pleather cover, feels like some kind of memory foam inside. Fits the bike perfectly so all in all I'm super happy. Means that from next summer (after fitting pillion pegs etc) my daughter can start coming out for short rides with me ?

Here's a link for anyone who may be interested ?

Help need getting a spare part
Posted by: Paul Walton - 26-11-19, 05:58 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

I have recently got a 2005 Fazer 1000, in silver with a black engine; registered in 2007. the bike is in outstanding condition with the exception of damaged fairing inserts. I can't find any second hand ones, or even after market?

This seems to be a problem with FZ's, so i'm confused why I can't fine some - unless I'm searching for the wrong term? Can anyone help?

Cheers,  Big Grin

  Centre Stand .
Posted by: Stormbringer - 26-11-19, 03:57 PM - Forum: Fazer 8 / FZ8 - Replies (2)

I fitted the  Yamaha centre stand  kit today.
All went well other than the spring fitting .
A couple of points worth noting,
the stand is very close to the chain when up and also quite stiff at the moment. The spring does not return it to the up position.
I rigged up a ratchet strap and wire hook to get the spring on . :'(
