  Renovating a fazer
Posted by: solorider - 26-03-12, 12:24 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (11)

After doing some odds and ends on my 2001 fazer I have found some rust in places,as the original frame colour will not be an easy match I'm considering a complete strip down and get the frame sand blasted and repainted, but I will use a zinc undercoat and spray the frame with paint not powdercoat as I think paint is better and can be touched up,so how hard is it to strip the fazer down? I did it with a rd200 but that was a bit smaller and a bit easier, with that I used hammerite smoothrite black wich came out brilliant.also should I try to match the frame colour or go for a alloy look or a black look.i do intend to ride the bike this summer but hopefully I will get a house with a garage later in the year,I may get the wheels powdercoated though unless anyone can think of a better finish for the wheels

  Front end decal

Hi All,
My 98 model is minus its ' YAMAHA.' decal above the headlights which somehow makes an already ugly fairing look bloody hideous, I think that I should be able to source it off Ebay [ NOT going to a dealers!] so if anyone can give me the height of the letters Id be much obliged.
Adios, compadres.

  FZ1 fuelling issue.

Ive just fitted a Mivv Titanium gp end can and link pipe to my 2011 FZ1N. The throttle is still slightly snatchy when throttling from off to on. Somebody mentioned an electronic box gizmo (not power commander) that you can plug in which is supposed to reduce this. Any recommendations as to which one and where to get one from??  :rolleyes

This is really dumb.  Been doing some work on the Fazer Thou and gone to refit plug leads.  Can't remember which side is no 1 and which side is no 4 lead!  Can someone help an idiot out here please? :-)

Not had enough controversy for a while - BIG Issue Global Warming
Posted by: Gingernutz - 25-03-12, 02:13 PM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

Despite all the scientific 'evidence' several quite famous individuals like Anne Widdecombe and David Belamy continue to raise valid concerns regarding the perceived wisdom of 'Global warming' - though you might not have heard much about them because the BBC has made a decision not to air their views. Prof Judith Curry, who chairs the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at America’s prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology, said that Prof Muller’s (one of the main voices in the scientific community for global warming) claim that he has proven global warming sceptics wrong was also a ‘huge mistake’, with no  scientific basis.

So the Big question: Given the evidence that the average temperature is rising - see graph -
- is 'Will it be okay if I use 15W40 Oil instead of 10W40?  (15W40 is the oil of choice for Fazer 600s in hot countries - and its £10 for 5L in Lidl this week)

Great day out for petrol heads

If you live within driving distance of Lydden Hill try to get there at some stage. Had a fantastic day out yesterday. Lovely friendly little course with brilliant vantage points for photographers and you can see the whole course from a couple of places so you can keep up with the action.
