  Carole Nash 6 wheel insurance.
Posted by: robby boy - 23-03-12, 11:56 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

as title, any foccers got a 6 wheel policy with Carole Nash (car and bike on same policy) Just been on the website getting a quote for the bike £50 cheaper than any of the compare sites or renewal, (dial direct). Anyways when on the site I see they do a 6 wheel policy and as the cage is due a fortnight after the bike I thought I might give it a try, just wondering if anyone has taken this type of policy out, thanks in advance for any info.

  notchy gears and chains
Posted by: ddtwelve - 23-03-12, 08:23 PM - Forum: FZ6 / Fazer - Replies (2)

Hi guys,
Im very new to bikes but eventually got my fz6s, i know first into second would be a clunker from what ive read but i was still getting clunky changes into 3rd and 4th , my bike had a new rear tyre fitted before i got it so thought they would put the chain tightness right went out today after watched a youtube vid about chain tightness etc , got my user manual out measured the slack after trying to find tight spot in the chain and noticed that it was only about 30mm of play so had to slacken off the wheel and adjusters to go back to 45mm play hope this will get rid of some of the notchy gear changes , but will this have damaged my chain and sprockets?? :'(

Wanted Petrol tank for 2000, 600 fazer
Posted by: Creolof - 23-03-12, 08:02 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Hi

Looking for a petrol tank for my 2000, 600 fazer.

Mine sprung 3 leaks last night and half a tank of fuel on the garage floor.

Black would be nice but any colour in good condition would be ok

Cheers

  Bit of a rattle today
Posted by: dickturpin - 23-03-12, 07:48 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

While out today I got a rattle (only once) while accelerating hard. Best description would be like a bit of loose grit flying round the front sprocket. Any ideas? could I have lost a tooth of the front cog?....or was it a bit of loose gravel flying round the cog that hard acceleration had dislodged? Journeyed about 100miles after with no further noises!

  Gearbox!

So having put it off for as long as I possibly could, my trusty old Fazer has finally been promoted to shed project. A sticky gearchange, symptomatic of a bent selector fork, means I'll be ripping it right down to it's innards for all to see.

She's 50 odd thousand miles old and long overdue a good overhaul anyway. First off, drain all the fluids, remove the tank, radiator, exhaust.

No great problems, ended up filling three five litre fuel cans, radiator fluid was in excellent condition, engine oil less so! No nasties in there though. Radiator itself looks a bit grim but nothing that a good soda blast and paint won't put right.

Exhaust came off really easily, actually it fell off once I took out the footrest hanger bolt, the rear mounting point has rusted off. Amazingly, all the rust flange nuts came off super easy, not a single stud came out, broke or stripped. Brass nuts will replace them.

I know it looks terrible but it's a trick of the light. Honest! Black bikes look bad in photos if you have to use flash, in real life it looks pretty good. Here's a few more photos, this is as far as I got today.

Just one interesting thing I noticed. The EXUP valve cover came off so easily, I was convinced all my servicing had paid off. The valve itself though was as stuck as if it had been welded shut. Hey ho, soon fix that and look forwards to a few more horses next time out.

Screwd.

PS: oh and yes, I have flattened the retaining ring and loosened off the sprocket nut. In case you were wondering.

Here I am again. Still got the old Fazer. Still love it.

Though it's in a few bits as we speak, up to my elbows in gearbox...

Here it is as it was:

My shortlist:
