  Photography competition - April
Posted by: Farjo - 31-03-12, 10:40 AM - Forum: General - Replies (32)

Congratulations to Fazerider for winning March's competition. His choice of theme is "Night. Available light only, i.e no flash photography.
"Most cameras these days can take long exposures so hopefully we'll get lots of atmospheric shots of buildings, skyscapes and long streaky traffic trails."

Post your photographs below to enter. Competition rules include a maximum of 2 photographs per active member, photographs must have been taken by the entrant and relate to the theme and the competition will close toward the end of April. The prize is to choose next month's theme.

Fazer owners meet new venue possibly
Posted by: jackojet - 31-03-12, 05:47 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (14)

Hi everyone

Being as i could'nt make the fazer meet last year at the brum bike shed.

I would like to invite any fazer rider to my fishery .

I run fisherwick lakes at whittington nr Lichfield in staffordshire. fisheries.co.uk/fisherwick

We offer the full angling experience and any non anglers or bikers are more than welcome.

I have a fishing lodge fully equipped overlooking our specimen carp lake, its very scenic and tranquill setting. the lodge has a cafe and ladies and gents toilets, and also a shop selling choc bars, cold pop etc.

there is a patio area at the back with ample bike parking and hard standing outside

The lakes 11 in total cover some 32 acres, so lots to see if you fancy a stroll round .

I can offer free tuition for visitors fancying a go at fly fishing while your there, and a substantial discount to foccers using our cafe.

im a qualified cook with a five star rating by environmental health .

Anyone wishing to come let me know i love to see bikes and this would make me happy as i dont get much time to ride myself.

Im not trying to plug myself or our fishery on here . just want to see you.

We are only 20 mins from Brum and  close to the famous basset pole bike meet.

Cheers all

Got the bike out the shed
Posted by: jackojet - 31-03-12, 05:06 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (7)

:rolleyes

Finally had enough time yesterday to uncover Fazzee as she is called by the wife after a long lay up. unconnected the optimate .

Thanks to Mike tinkering she started first touch of the button and purred like my cat Jetski.

as i backed her out the shed and over the ramp i got stuck in the doorway, i thought whats up. im sat onthe bike.

i then twigged what wasup, i hadnt took the centre stand off, no spring on see, as i take it off when riding and pop it on minus spring to work on the bike.

couldnt get the mrs as she was in the kitchen playing with the ferrets . i thought shit what do i do ? i cant backwards as the stand is stuck round the step. Anyway i pulled the clutch in selected first and tried to go forward .

I now have a rubber darkie on the freshly washed patio slabs and step. it was fun though and my bike is safe in the shed.

im pissed off with myself for not remembering to take the stand off before moving the bike. anyway in harm done

She aint seen it yet  :eek

  Car Insurance...How can this be??
Posted by: dickturpin - 30-03-12, 10:14 PM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

Been on the phone tonight looking at car insurance and have to admit to being confused/surprised.
When I put on my 17 year old DD with provisional licence as you can imagine the quote rises significantly...but here's the fun bit...when I then add another 17 year old provisional licence holder, the quote drops by about £130. Can't explain it but clearly I need to add the second learner asap to reduce the premium!
Amazed!! :eek

Gearbox horrible noise, cant get in or out of gear. FZS600 1998
Posted by: Rangrally - 30-03-12, 09:29 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (23)

Lovely ride back from Uni today until I went down two cogs on the approach to a corner, let the clutch up and is sounds horrible as if the gears are not meshing properly. Cant move the gear selector at all so glided to a halt and got trailered home.

Took the clutch apart and nothing amiss there - sounds like it is trying to select two gears at once though, very jerky drive when easing out the clutch.....HELP!

  Play in Rear Suspension
Posted by: dickturpin - 30-03-12, 08:21 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Just MOT'd today.....Pass with no advisories... Big Grin

But I watched the guy test the bike and he did comment on some play in the rear suspension. I recall a thread on the old site about re-torquing the suspension linkages on the sidestand to cure this.
I wonder if putting on the R6 shock and torquing on the centre stand (which I did a month or so ago) could be the difference as no play was noted last year at the MOT.

  Lots of FZS600 parts
Posted by: Fuzzy - 30-03-12, 07:50 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (72)

Hi there,

Running out of space so I have quite a few parts for sale, thought I'd offer them here before Ebay. All the parts are for 98~01 models (i.e. square eyes) but some parts are interchangeable with the 03+ models. Prices are reasonable, I'm happy to sell these parts for less than the usual prices on ebay. If you're interested or want photos/details, just drop me a line and we'll take it from there. See list below.

Thanks,

Claude

  painting side panels
Posted by: solorider - 30-03-12, 07:09 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (3)

both of my side panels were covered in light scratches,so i bought some halfords bumper paint,it does not need rubbing down and does not need primer,i sprayed both of mine and apart from one frip they both look good and the finish is satin

in this pic you can see the drip but otherwise it looks good, shame about the rust on the frame though
