  Jittery at low revs
Posted by: darrsi - 12-07-12, 07:03 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (51)

I've noticed recently that my bike has been what i can only describe as 'jittery' between 2000-2500rpm.

Once i go over 2500rpm it's fine, picks up well, with no other issues or flat spots.

The more i think about it, it's probably been doing it for a while but as it's been gradual i've not taken too much notice of it, but now it's quite obvious.

It feels almost like i'm in the wrong gear, but i've tried different things and it's still there between those rev. ranges.

Any ideas? I'm sure it's not a difficult one if it rings a bell to anyone, but it's not something i've personally encountered before?

Evening folks

Due to the rage i feel at being forced to pay extortionate amounts to letting peeps (and don't get me started on their demanding illegal fees, I'm a lawman y'know) combined with bills i am being convinced from all quarters that a mortgage is the way to go as it will work out cheaper every month.

"Piffle" I say. "Surely thou hast no idea how dastardly cheap it is to live right in the very middle of the city of the township of the weege, beating cardiovessel of the shire."

Well it's got me stinking about it so i went on to a few property sites to get a rough idea of pricing dep on size, condition, location etc.

Well bugger me, aren't there just some mighty fine properties oot there ripe for the taking given the honking state of affairs with the supposed economy?

Cumbernauld - 3 Bedroom flat with Garage (One requires a workshop in his castle) good size, walk in condition D/G, GCC, the lot.
55 grand or somewhereabouts.
Cumbernauld isn't ideal for work etc but it was a crackin place in a quiet area (from the looks of it, behind cumbernauld theatre - Davie, Neilly.......looks ok up there eh?

Or alternatively Hillington. Similar deal. Or Milton of Campsie (Again, transport to work an issue should bikes be out of action for any reason) both great inside and relatively quiet areas, with garages and ready to walk in, no work. All for under 60 g's.

Now, i pay 400 all in for my flat (except food and booze obviously, in a small 2 bed w/ liv room, tiny kitchen, tiny bedrooms) which i share with a friend and to be honest, i've always preferred living alone with space, much as i like where i am for what it is. Also having somewhere that ISN'T on the main path for the fire station up the road responding to UFAS and false calls in the city (the fucking irony, also, my brother is a watch gaffer there so i think he toots knowing it'll wind me up).

Well, enough catharsis, what's the script with the mortgages?

First time buyer
No deposit as yet (But likely will have, %age uncertain at the minute)
Salary circa £20k in fairly secure position as well as reasonably stable and oft in-demand sector of industry
Want to go no higher than 70 grand all in, hoping this will cover all fees and back up/maintenance/furniture/appliances for moving in.
I also don't want to be paying anymore than over 20 years cos i want to be in India getting high and laying in the sun by that time but i accept this will be unlikely.

I've just extended my lease by 6 months and if required will stay as long as required so this is a long term plan and if i can get a 20% deposit sorted by the time i move out i'll be laughing, but the reality is, i have no idea what happens with them and how they work. Had a peek at the fairinvesment.co.uk website and its given a basic guide as to what teh script is but how does it work in practice?

I know they are all cowboys and thieves but sometimes you just need to get into bed with the manky old whore and i'll be investigating much deeper into it to see how the process goes.

Any sage advice foccers?

If you use a restore function to return the OS to the factory settings of the day it was delivered would there still be hidden old data stored on the hdd?

Asking because I was thinking of taking it down the charity shop.

  ## SPRING MEET 13 ## Fri 24 >> Mon 27 May 2013 ##
Posted by: moffmeister - 12-07-12, 06:26 AM - Forum: Events, Meets, Ride outs etc - Replies (166)

Venue

Same as previously:  West End Outdoor Centre, Thruscross, Harrogate, HG3 4BA

Pricing

It has gone up to £290 per night which is £29 per person per bunk total for the three nights

spaces will be oversubscribed - please don't let this put you off coming - see the sections on camping and dossing

## CAMPING AND DOSSING DOWN IS FREE AGAIN THIS YEAR  ##

Deposits and Payment

Normally those who subsequently cannot make it will get their deposit/money back assuming the place can be passed on.  Otherwise the shortfall has to be covered by those who have attended.

As every year you have plenty of time to book the time off; that said I appreciate "stuff" happens and can't be avoided - be assured I will try me very best to refund you if this happens and your excuse is genuine.

I have already paid the £200 deposit to secure the booking.  As this has been covered by deposits paid I don't need any further payment until April 2013, when I need to pay the FULL balance for the accommodation (by the end of April).

On this basis I will be expecting a minimum deposit (per bunk place) of £29 no later than 30-April.  Priority for bunk places will be given to those paying deposits - A deposit can be any amount £10 or upwards. Multiple deposits are fine but I'd prefer it all in one i.e. for bunks the full £29.

Due in previous years several people not turning up at the last minute last time (with genuine excuses thin on the ground), I will be expecting payment IN FULL no later than two weeks prior to the meet.  If you have not payed in full by 10-May then your place will be offered to others. Deposits will only be refunded in exceptional circumstances or your place is taken.  If you place is taken, the person taking it shall pay me the difference between the deposit paid and the total amount payable i.e. you are responsible for recovering your deposit from them yourself (obviously I will put you in contact with them).

Anyone dropping out at the "last minute" will only be refunded in exceptional circumstances.

Food/beer/band/sundries will be £45 ish per head - the non meat eaters and tee-totalers get a corresponding reduction on the cost.

Reduction if you only eat weeds: £10 ish - Reduction if you don't drink alcohol £15 ish

This has always been a three night event.  If you want to stay for less then fine, but again I've booked for three nights so you pay for three nights.  In 2010 people not staying Sunday did get a discount but only because there was a surcharge that year.  I have previously considered a system whereby those wanting only two nights paid more per night but less in total than those staying for three - too much fkin hassle foir the organiser!

Popping over for one night only? Normally anyone who turns up on the Sunday (or other night but there is unlikely to be any spare bunks on the Fri and Sat) and takes a vacated bunk and chucks some money in the kitty (assuming you want to eat and drink) -  £10 is about right

You can pay me by Bank Transfer (or if Paypal but this is not my preference)

send email to 2013@springmeet.co.uk and I will forward the details

# Please DO NOT use the PM feature to contact me - use the email or Facebook! ##

Pricing Summary

Bunk + Food + Meat + Booze = £75 per person - for campers £46

Bunk + Food + Meat = £60 per person (teetotalers) - for campers £31

Bunk + Food + Booze = £65 per person (veggies) - for campers £36

Bunk + Food = £50 per person (jees no meat and no booze!) - for campers £21

Saturday Entertainment

Of the musical variety.................I will be booking the same band again  http://www.facebook.com/bluestartattooband  - the cost this year for the band is £tbc!! -  likely to be £280 ish  - this is already included in the prices above.

There is also the usual "alternative" entertainment...

Rideouts

Usual Saturday run to Hartside etc

Sunday - coast or several splinter groups - something for everyone!

Beverages

Sufficient quantities of alcoholic and non-alcholic are provided (sadly this event is not longer the piss up it used to be)

Food

There will be the usual (my excellent local butchers) BBQ fayre for the Friday and Saturday nights together with the usual snacks etc

For Sunday night - open to suggestions (had curry last three years!!!)

There will be a stupendous full cooked breakfast on the Sat and Sun mornings (subject to volunteer cooks!! and washer ups)

Camping (FREE)

Camping is free this year as last year I done a deal with the owner - I supply (make) 2 No. outside picnic tables : camping is free

Dossing Down Inside (also FREE)

This is an alternative to camping but all you need to bring is a sleeping bag. This option will be limited to a maximum of ten people (due to space and I only have five airbeds)

There a slight surplus this year - so those who want to come again in 2013 can use this towards deposit - if anyone wants it back let me know by email - alternatively I can donate to charity, or just put it in the kitty.

Here is the scores on the doors deposit/money owing wise - if you're not listed here I don't owe you owt!

TO CLARIFY: i) you need to advise you want to come by posting in this thread or by having emailed me previously (I am not a mind reader), ii) I have enough to do without chasing people on this list; if you don't come this year, and you don't ask me for your money back then it goes in the kitty for this year.  END.

  SMIDSY's
Posted by: AyJay - 11-07-12, 09:46 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Anyone watching Horizon on BBC4 looking at human perception? Here's a good one. They just showed a clip of 6 guys playing basketball, 3 in yellow, 3 in blue, and we're asked to count the number of times the guys in yellow pass the ball. Ok, thought, this should be easy. I counted 13 passes. At the end of the clip the guy says 'did anyone notice anything strange there?' So we were then invited to watch the clip as you would normally. And a bloke in a gorilla suit walked through the middle of the basketball game, stopped, stood bang centre in the middle of the picture and waved.I didn't see it when I was counting the passes. Absolutely stunning that you can miss something as obvious as that. You want the answer to why SMIDSY's happen, it's visual perception problems .. ..

In the last 24 hours I have seen a beautiful reddy brown fox who appears as soon as I put out even a crust of bread, a little field mouse who skittered about snatching little morsels left by Mrs Fox. Pipistrelles hoovering up insects above the fir trees, wood pigeons, robins and even parakeets.

Then just now I saw something swoop across the lawn and when I looked a sparrowhawk with the most luminous yellow eyes was perched one legged on my fence.

Was up in bristol today in fowlups, just happened to notice they had an offer on the Bandit 1250 sa with full 3 box  luggage. brand new avail in black or grey only but at UNDER £6000 where as the fz1 without luggage £10500

4k + price diff???? i know the fazer is a much much beter bike but still thats a hell of a price diff
even the new kawasaki Z1000sx with box's is £1500+ under the fz1 price and in my opinion is a better bike than the FZ1
