  Folding mirror party trick
Posted by: dazza - 29-07-12, 05:29 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (4)

Got the chance to max my bike today as I wanted to see how fitting a gen 2 touring screen affected the top speed. As i tucked in and my speed increased my r/h/s mirror folded back. It reminded me of the veyron when it all hunkers down and spoilers lower to make it more slippery. It's only started to do this since it took a direct hit from  a pigeon at 3 figure speeds  but I thought what a pointless but pretty cool mod. Am now on the lookout for a kamakazi pigeon to take one for the l/h/s :lol

  Ten Years After
Posted by: Falcon 269 - 29-07-12, 12:21 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (26)

... the day I collected the Fazer from Carnell's in Milton Keynes and I still can't think of another bike that could take its place. Smile

After a decade of ownership and 46k miles, the old girl has lost about 30lbs, gained almost 20bhp and has had more than a few other changes to suspension and appearance.

To celebrate the anniversary, this morning we converted 20 litres of Snr Repsol's finest unleaded into sound and speed.  Fun at its finest.

Simply the best.  Smile

  Luggage Rack
Posted by: Fazermax - 29-07-12, 08:12 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - No Replies

Looking at fitting  a top box for the camping outings on the back of my 2007 FZ1s, have been searching on-line and can't seem to pin down the correct fitment, I have a tail tidy fitted and it would seem that all the systems need the original tail piece to bolt to.
Have any of you guys got any pictires of your fitted racks ? as I need to take a look at the fittings, as I am sure I can knock something up at work.
Cheers
Keith

  sat nav hook up
Posted by: ghostbiker - 28-07-12, 06:47 PM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

Well my trusty old tomtom 1 has finaly died  :\
I used to hook it up to my in helmet speakers via a 3.5mm jack to hear the directions. but when out looking for a new satnav today i hit a snag..... they no longer have jack plugs lol

the cheap ones dont have any way to hook up other than thier internal speaker and it gets expensive once you look at blue tooth.

I finaly bit the bullet and got a Garmin Nuvi 2595 lm with euro maps and life time updates free.
this has blue tooth and seemed a good deal (£150 including a case, life time euro maps)

Now i am going to get a bar mount case like the one i have for my phone as i have been happy with that, and i have a 12v socket on the bike to so both of those angles are covered.
But at 100% volume i cant hear anything once over 20mph lol

There seems to be a couple of options

1 Buy a bluetooth reciver to 3.5mm jack like this ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220970372152?s...1423.l2649 ) the plus side is it can just plug in to my existing in helm speakers via the jack and its cheap. the down side is i cant use the speach softwear on the sat nav or make calls on the phone that can link to the satnav to.

2 is to spend out on a proper in helm bluetooth kit. these seem to vairy a LOT from £40 - £350+ and i would imagin you get what you pay for. i dont use it enough to fork out huge amounts of cash so mine would be a budget version.

3 buy a blue tooth helmet..... not gunna happen as i just got my shoei qwest lol and like it.

4 buy an on bike set like the intercome things. again cost is the issue here.

any other ideas? cost is one of the main factors with £50 really my max unless its really really worth spending more, though i would prefer to spend much less lol

  chain jumping when in gear...
Posted by: Dangle_kt - 28-07-12, 03:25 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (22)

Hi,

Took the fazer for its first proper ride out the other day.

Went to snake pass, and despite my slow a55 riding, I enjoyed myself - the renthal low bars worked very nice (except being a bit vibey sending my fingers to sleep - balance carbs?)

Anyway, I must have done 150 miles over the day, but on the last 10 miles the bikes started making a horrible "DUNK", or "CLUNK DUN" every few seconds from the drive chain area.

I nursed it home very gingerly as the whole bike seemed to stutter and lurch as it did it.

I had a look today, assuming the front sprocket had worked its way off (heard this is common issue) - but the sprocket is fine - thought it might be the chain, so I adjusted and oiled it - that was fine too with no lumpy issues when rolling the rear wheel on the centre stand.

So next I banged it into gear and THERE it was, every few seconds the chain jumped - it looked as if the front sprocket was locking for a micro second every few revolutions, same through the gears...however

it DOESN'T happen if I pulled the clutch, I could pull the clutch in and it would carry on spinning nicely, so dramas, and then as soon as I let it out it would come back.

So I think it is something to do with the clutch (I guess ti wont be gearbox if it happens in all the gears..)

Anyway, before I whip the side case off and strip the clutch, any bright ideas about what it might be?

The bike has 50k miles on it, and not very pretty - but not had any issues till this (I commuted on it daily last year for a month or so, and did one track day session the other week when the local track let newbs have one 20 min go for £10!)

Thanks Smile
