  RS Paints.
Posted by: Decoke Dave - 03-02-20, 06:04 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Got some RS paints, frame touch up bottles.  Metalic black and a bottle of lacquer.  Tried to use the brush on the bottle top! What a load of utter shit!  Found and used an ideal small soft brush.  Question is, what the hell do you was the brush in! I tried everything I could think of but had to bin it!  Expensive but damn good paint though.  :thumbup

  Wing Mirrors
Posted by: darrsi - 01-02-20, 04:56 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Can anyone point me in the direction of a pair of replacement 600 wing mirrors that have longer stems than OEM ones?

I do still have the OEM ones as back up, but i noticed yesterday that one of my current mirrors is rapidly getting what looks almost like rust spots behind the glass.
I bought them years ago but don't recall where from?

  Rear brake
Posted by: Bazza123 - 31-01-20, 10:13 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hello all
One of the pistons has unsurprisingly seized in my standard rear calliper, so I’m going to sort that soon before the MoT. Does the calliper split in half for removal of the pistons, as I want to put new seals in? Otherwise, it’s looks like a bit of a job getting in there to clean everything and fit new seals.

The other thing I’d like to do is replace the rear brake hose - since it’s “only” the rear hose I’m not necessarily bothered if it’s braided or not, but can’t seem to source any standard hoses. Can anyone recommend something?

Thanks

  Insurance claim question
Posted by: Grahamm - 31-01-20, 07:26 PM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Last August some idiot took me out on a roundabout (cut across my path).

It was very low speed, so I only had a bit of damage to the fairing and headlamp mount and the front brake lever mount was bent when the bike fell onto its side, although the quote to replace that lot with OEM parts and workshop time would be around £1000!.

Unfortunately I've just had a letter from the insurance company's claim handling people saying "We have been unable to make recover of your financial losses [...] We have received no respnose from the Thirdy Party Insurers and have exhausted all avenues of recovering your costs".

They go on to say: "As we are not a law firm we cannot issue Court Proceedings on your behalf to effect a recovery of your losses".

Has anyone else been in this situation and got any ideas what to do next?

Frankly I don't really want the hassle of trying to start a Court claim, and, even if I did, I don't know how much I'd actually get back. There's also the moneyclaim.gov.uk route, but I don't know anything about that.

I do have Fully Comp insurance, so would it be best to just claim on that? I do have protected NCB (over 10 years) which should mean my renewal premium won't go up too much.

I'd welcome any helpful advice.
