  Engine bars V Crash bungs
Posted by: Noj - 14-08-12, 01:21 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Having got a belly pan fitted I was told that the Yamaha bars would not fit and crash bungs were the only solution.

Is there any other bars that would do the job with out modifying the belly panel?

Are crash bungs a good solution?

I am thinking of doing gymkhana with the bike so low speed spills are highly likly.

Bike Gear Wanted for nagging 13yr old
Posted by: Andy FZS - 14-08-12, 12:45 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

My youngest (13) is nagging for me to take him out on a weekend :eek , so I've bought him a lid (New) but being from Yorkshire I'm reluctant to spend loads if he decides he'd rather be on his Xbox. So does anyone have any unused gear they would like to sell?
Jacket 34/36
Boots 9
Trousers 30/32
Or any suggestions of where best to look.
Cheers

  Question about engine mount bolts
Posted by: DanielT - 14-08-12, 11:47 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

I've recently fitted some r&g crash bungs to my fzs600.

Had a problem when replacing the m6 and m8 engine mount bolts.

there is a metal spacer in the m8 tube which doesn't line up properly which meant the new m8 would not go through without pushing the spacer out. so I have left out the spacer.

is this bad? If so, any suggestions?

Is the cost of fuel impacting your bike fun?
Posted by: MadDogMcQ - 14-08-12, 09:21 AM - Forum: General - Replies (28)

Before the recession came along, I didn't even know the price of petrol. But boy, I do now! I've become one of those sad price-watchers. It's ridiculous!

At weekends (weather permitting) I tank up 2 or 3 times and that now means £40 - £60! PER WEEK!! The other night, I pulled into a petrol station, stuck the nozzle in the tank, squeezed the trigger and turned around to look at the pump display - it was already at £2.30 and I had barely blinked! FFS

  Hello!(Kent rider)
Posted by: bozboz - 14-08-12, 01:21 AM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (2)

Hello everyone I'm Ian from Kent (nickname of bozboz...its just stuck!), thought I'd join the forum as I have just bought a 1999 Fazer 600. Its black, a little tatty, with a Stainless exhaust and bad paint but has its test certificate with a few new bits and I thought was a bargin for £850! I've not long left the world of despatch riding and always liked the fazers after riding a mates in town -its good to finally have one of my own! Anyway look forward to cleaning her up over the coming weeks and shouting out for help on this forum when I get stuck!

Cheers! Bozboz  Smile

  Just bought a wee DRZ400
Posted by: Aegis Bearing Mel - 13-08-12, 10:28 PM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

One of those Ebay "I'll stick a cheeky offer in, you never know" type affairs, boom, now the owner of a 2000 DRZ400 SY.

Only slight issues was it was in London, so flight booked yesterday at half twelve, flew down at half two and met the dude at the airport, bike mine by half five.
Big Grin

After bungeeing the original exhaust system, my backpack, laptop and spare gubbins to the back off I popped up the road.

Was great fun zipping through London, which I seemed to spend a fair bit of time doing...
:o

Found the A1, bimbled along at a pleasant 70+ and all was good with the world.
Until just outside Derby when she decided that she was spitting her dummy out and anymore than a 1/3rd throttle was gonna result in no fuelling and some rather loud farting from the gutter masquerading as an exhaust.
:\

So, 47MPH and a bottle of Redex from Derby to Scotch Corner where I lost patience and kicked her, to my amazement she cleaned her throat and we had great fun on the A66.
Some of those bends don't have sneak up on you in the dark mind you.

M6 and she choked again, another 46MPH run from Penrith back home to the 'Weeg, so about 12 hours from finding the A1, one numb arse but still a grinning Mel.
Work on an hours sleep wasn't so much fun mind you, but hey.

So, any of you other fine buggers got such a toy lying around in the shed?
If so, anything to watch out for or must do mods?

Aegis

  Advice please
Posted by: Stuajohnson79 - 13-08-12, 08:38 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (33)

Hi.

Just bought my first bike after passing DAC, so I don't really know what I'm doing yet or what I need to look for! The bike is a '98, it's done 26,700 miles although just over 1000 in the last 4 years. The previous owners haven't ridden it in the last year (May '11 the tax ran out), but they've kept the servicing up apparently. I took her out for the first time on Saturday and in the 8 miles I covered to Hein Gericke, when I got back on the back 3 mins later (shop was nearly empty) I needed to bring the choke out again then it dropped the revs of completely and stalled when I tried to leave! How long does it take to warm up, and what should the idle speed be? It's about 1200 rpm on tick over and 3000ish with choke! Could it just be bad fuel in the tank, it was nearly empty when I picked it up, is it poss that I've gunked up the carbs? Or is it just a case of the noobs?
