  Gen 1 v Gen 2
Posted by: bigbluebear - 31-10-12, 02:41 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (46)

I currently have a 2004 Gen 1, ivanised, custom exhaust and a smaller front sprocket which goes like shit off a shovel. I am now thinking about changing over to a Gen 2 and wondered what the main differences would be in performance, handling, weight and size for comfort (I'm 6' 3 and 17st).
I'm sure there are many on here who have experienced both models so any feedback would be very much appreciated.
I am more into acceleration and chucking it around the twisties than straight line top end speed if it helps
Cheers

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! Anyone else carve pumpkins?
Posted by: FuZzBoM - 31-10-12, 02:25 PM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

Hi all, Happy Halloween to everyone..
Last night I spent the evening carving a pumpkin. I am rather happy with the outcome so thought I would share.
Anyone else waste their evening doing the same?

Respect to anyone who knows who this rocker is

  Blind Spot
Posted by: pointer2null - 31-10-12, 09:01 AM - Forum: General - Replies (24)

Why is it that every time I get a bike following me the pillock always rides directly behind me in the blind spot?

I had a prat with a loud exhaust following me this morning, I can hear him but not see him, so I moved position in the lane so I could keep him in the mirror. Guess what, me moved as well. Moron.

  Actual fork travel?
Posted by: Motorbreath - 31-10-12, 03:38 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - No Replies

I read this old topic where a foccer found out that his bike only had 100mm of travel: http://fazerowners.yuku.com/topic/30816#.UJB0V65lbCM
What do you think about it? How close have you manage to push a zip tie to the triple clamp? Since my bike has fork gaitors I cannot put a zip tie to measure the fork travel accurately to set the preload. I even thought that maybe the gaitors reduced some travel, but if that info is correct it would not be the case.

By the way I think that the claimed installed spring length (7mm shorter than free) does not make sense counting the claimed spacer length (200 mm 1998/183mm 2002).It would make the spring 14mm shorter once installed according to my measures. I could be wrong about it because my forks have a mix of 1998, 2002 and custom parts, but I have all the 1998 stock parts except the spacers, so I am pretty sure.
Has anybody measured where the spacers are from the top of the forks once the caps have been removed?

Are the top out springs messing around with all these measurements?

Sorry for my English, still learning...

Friends Gopro hd hero 1080p camera on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251176358156  Upgraded to the hero3 so my original hero HD is up for grabs. Still have the original box, though not photographed. Still a great camera if you a looking for a gopro on a budget.]http://www.ebay.com/itm/251176358156[/url]

  valve clearance question (again!)
Posted by: scottyboy2203 - 30-10-12, 10:37 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (30)

Hi all, Just check my valve clearances (its bloody freezing out!) and exhaust are all at 0.2mm whilst intake varies from 0.076-0.1mm. From memory Intake should be 0.11-0.2mm and exhaust 0.21-0.3mm, so what affect will my clearances have if left unchanged (it's a real ballache)?

On a side note, whilst the cam cover was off I noticed that the cam chain is continuously held tight against the chain guide on the top of the engine (between intake and exhaust sprockets), is this normal?

Thanks!

Got pictures from the death of my last fazer a few months ago... Thankfully, everyone was ok and I have a new one now - a year younger with a few thousand miles less on the clock.

Could have been so much worse!

  Modular helmets
Posted by: fireblake - 30-10-12, 07:28 PM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

Hi all,
I'm looking at getting a modular/flip helmet and was wondering what are your thoughts on designs, weights, ease of use with the flip front, ease of getting the visor off?
I'd prefer one with an internal sun visor and with pin lock on the main visor?

Cheers for any opinions?

Mickey
