Posted by: arch33angel - 22-11-12, 11:37 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

Hi, I'm looking to take off the Datatool System 3 alarm as its eating my battery. Has anyone got any tips or wiring diagrams? New Yuasa shagged in less than a year because of this bloody thing. Thanks.

  Insurance renewal
Posted by: Agent Picolax - 22-11-12, 11:34 AM - Forum: General - Replies (10)

It's that time of year when I need to shop around for a good deal on my Fazer 600 insurance, especially when my current insurer Devitt have put my premium up and included a £10 renewal fee (WTF!!). I ain't paying them £10 to renew, so unless they can match the best quote from 'The Bike Insurer' comparison site, £78 from Saga Select, I'm off to Saga to start smelling of wee and thinking about buying a thou  :lol

Posted by: chilly - 22-11-12, 09:59 AM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

well we won our court battle for unfair dismissal and are due back in court on the 22nd of january  :woot does anybody know if we have to pay tax on our compensation? we have no idea how much we will get but it could be as much as a years wage we think (hope) as far as losses go i am about £30 a week down on this gardening leave but on the other hand i am not using £20 a week on fuel so can't complain. will have to find a job in january but i will worry about that later.  Wink

  Speed Awareness courses
Posted by: Robbie8666 - 22-11-12, 09:27 AM - Forum: General - Replies (8)

Having done a speed awareness course instead of taking the points on my license I read in the news today that Admiral are going to increase your premium if you declare that you have attended a course

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20328860

I must admit at the time of going to the course I did think this was going to be a complete waste of time etc and to be fair i probably didn't get the most out of the course as i sat there during the course just looking at my watch. I probably only really listened to an hour out of the 4 hours.

HOWEVER on refection I have now noticed that my driving / riding attitude has totally changed and now rarely drive above the limit as to where before i would sit on or just above it. the plus side of this is my mpg has gone up massively and only added about 10 mins to my weekly commute of 250 miles! and only 5 minutes on my daily commute of 35 miles!

  Headlamps - improvements?
Posted by: ChristoT - 22-11-12, 12:43 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (6)

Hi!

I was wondering if anyone had found a good way to improve the headlamps on the  square eye Fazer (without going full Foxeye)? Back on the Varadero 125 forum I used to be on, a few people had installed HIDs to their bikes to improve the awful performance from the stock setup. Has anyone done anything similar to the Fazer?

I plan on rebuilding the headlamp assembly over Christmas, but would appreciate any advice from those who've been there and done it!

Cheers!

Biker awareness course for car drivers
Posted by: Grahamm - 22-11-12, 12:00 AM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

Here's a petition worth signing (even if, most probably, it won't make much difference...!)

Quote:I want the government to take seriously the amount of crashes caused by car drivers that simply do not see cylces or motorcycles. The majority of accidents could be prevented had car drivers looked properly before manouvering. The term SMIDSY (sorry mate I didn't see you) is an all to common phrase heard after a crash.

My aim is to improve road safety for all road users by re-educating car drivers to look and do proper safety checks when changing direction. Motorcycle riders are taught to do a 'lifesaver' shoulder check when changing lanes or direction and I would like car drivers to be taught the same. This simple check can save lives and prevent accidents.

  98 FZS rear caliper
Posted by: 2old2boogie - 21-11-12, 05:44 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (4)

I have mullered the bleed nipple on my bike ('they all do that'I hear you shout!). Bloody thing has snapped off, tried the usual Eazi-Out method of removing it but it's having none of it. I am reluctant to attempt to drill it out as from experience I know I'm useless at this stuff. So before I remove it to a Machine Shop for removal I wondered if there is a replacement caliper that will bolt on?
