Removing rear body cowling to fit Givi Rack.
Posted by: Arfa - 19-11-12, 11:52 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

I don't yet have a Haynes manual for the bike, and still quite new to it, so I've not pulled it apart yet. Any pointers to removing the rear body to fit Givi rack? Need to tackle this tonight to pick up a top box tomorrow!

I see two bolts under seat and two underneath, plus the four in the grab handle. Any others? Anything else need removing to gain access etc?

Magazines, Online Articles, Posters, etc. for Gen 1
Posted by: hap - 19-11-12, 01:02 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Does anyone have the following magazines featuring Gen 1 articles ... that they want to part with?  I know I can buy back issues of some, but I'll go broke.  If anyone who has these issues and can advise if they contain substantial articles (worth my getting the mag) or just a one-line reference, I'd appreciate it.

I got my 2005 FZ1 in 2010 and therefore missed all the “news” when originally published.

I’ve heard that these mention the Gen 1 (so I could use the issue date, if anyone knows).

As long as I'm asking for the world, does anyone have any dealer/manufacturer ads, brochures, posters, copy of an original, dealer bill of sale, etc.?

(Yes, I may be a little obsessed.) :b

  Car battery
Posted by: ghostbiker - 18-11-12, 09:42 PM - Forum: General - Replies (13)

Well went out to start the Pick-up this morning as there was ice on the roads so thought i would take it rather than the bike.
Battery was dead Sad showed no sign of struggling untill this morning. and within about 4 trys it was dead
now im gunna charge it tonight but at most thats just a get me by for a few days. so i need to buy a new one.

The one in the pickup isnt for it. its the wrong size and is stammped up for a rover.
its marked up as 12v 75ah
the ones i found for mine online seem to start at 60ah and go up to about 74ah (but its £100+ for that one)
not knowing much about batterys is the ah rate just how much charge it holds? so the higher the ah the longer it would last with turning over?
the one i put on the bike recently has a higher initial cranking rate, turns over the bike faster and stronger than any other it has had. but i cant seem to see anything on the listings about cranking rates

i will most likely go for a branded one and about the middle ah but thought i would ask about the ah etc before i hit pay Smile

FZS600 Replaced Starter Clutch Cover and now won't start...
Posted by: Nick H - 18-11-12, 06:04 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (14)

Hello,

I replaced the starter clutch cover and gasket today but now the bike won't turn over when I try to start it. I had a bit of a struggle getting the bearing out of the old cover and ended up cutting it out, but worried I might have damaged the bearing.

However, the bearing spins smoothly, and the gears turn when turned by hand. Just when I bolt the cover back on and try to start the bike it just clicks.

Is it possible the gears won't turn if the bearing isn't 100% flush with the cover? Any other ideas would be very much appreciated  Smile

Thanks

Nick

Longtime Fazer Owner but just found this forum!
Posted by: Nick H - 18-11-12, 05:51 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (1)

Hi!

Have had a 2001 FZS600 for about 6 years now and having previously owned several temperamental race bikes from the 80's it's been an easy bike to look after and has never let me down  Smile

Until now that is... but it was my own doing! Went sliding down the road at the start of the year as had to ditch it when a pedestrian ran out into the road. Ended up with a broken collar bone and a smashed up bike which is now almost fully repaired.

My last repair to make was to replace the starter clutch cover but having replaced it today the bike now won't start  Sad  I'm about to start searching for some help on here!

  returned to the dark side
Posted by: sure2ride - 18-11-12, 03:56 PM - Forum: Introduction - No Replies

Hi again folks, and special hi to anyone who remembers me.  I made a very bad mistake 18 months ago, sold my FZS1 and bought a BMW F800ST.  What a pile of poo!  No wonder BMW stands for bring my wallet, and what for I ask?, a crappy old parrallel twin with possible piston slap issues and rear wheel bearing failures, not to mention other faults. :'( Talk about a boring ride, after a few months I had definately had enough, but it took a bit longer to get the idea of another bike change past er indoors.
Anyway, I didn't want another Fazer as I had aleady had on 03 600 foxeye, and an 05 FZS1000S and an 04 FZ1, so over the last few weeks I have been on loads of test rides, culminating in a 08 Fazer thou last Wednesday and a 10reg Fazer 8 last Thursday.
Bottom line, I absolutely loved the Fazer8 ! what a surprise. :lol So I bought the 8 and it is being serviced and delivered this week. Can't wait.
Pity the Fazer 8 section on here is a bit lonely, I guess that's cos there aren't that many of them. Still It's nice to be back on the site and I daresay I'll stick my nose in some of the none 8 forums for a chat.
Great to be back on the dark side and look forward to exchanging views here.
Anyone near the New Forest/Southamton want to hook up just PM me.
