  OEM clutch cable
Posted by: phil on a fazer - 15-01-13, 02:57 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Hi

about a year ago i was quoted about £90 for a clutch cable from my local Yam dealer. i think i posted about this and people agreed...that really was what yamaha charged for them.

Went into the same dealers today to order one (been saying up for a year  Big Grin  ). didnt have one so they've ordered one....cost £47?????

im SURE they used to be £90ish...i am dreaming?

  Fan not cutting in?
Posted by: reillypadraig - 15-01-13, 11:58 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (19)

Leaving the bike running for a good while, fan is working, tried it, power at the thermostat. But still won't cut in

Silly question, what is the direction of flow from the carbs back to the thermo?

From the tps side to the thermo or the tps side back to the rad?

Bike wasn't put together when I got it so was guesswork.....

Anybody has ridden a GSXR 1100?
Posted by: Motorbreath - 15-01-13, 03:04 AM - Forum: General - Replies (29)

[Image: susuki-gsxr-1100-de-coleccion_MLA-F-3024...082012.jpg]

Hi, I am looking at a cheap '91 GSXR 1100, just like this one but it is too far from home to go just for a test ride. I love its looks and power numbers but I would like to know if it is really a fun ride or its heavy weight or something else make it less funny than a FZS 600. I am not even sure if I would sell the FZS after buying the GSXR, or I would keep it.

What do you think?

  Shafties
Posted by: fireblake - 14-01-13, 11:39 PM - Forum: General - Replies (28)

I went for a ride with an old mate who has a Suzuki GS1000 with shaft drive. Its a W reg bike circa 1981 and goes like stink. He rebuilt it a few years back and it had a re-bore. Now my point is, what is the problem with shaft drive? I wonder what a Fazer 1000 would be like with a shaft. Everything else the same but a shaft instead of a chain? How much power would be lost?  I mean the Divvy 900 isn't a complete waste of time.....Is it?

  New member intro.
Posted by: Fazer to stun - 14-01-13, 09:03 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (8)

Hi, my name is Michael, I live in Stirling in central scotland.....and I am Fazer owner.

I bought the bike in 2010 as a return to bike ownership after a 9 year break. Currently the bike is on SORN, and I am in the process of repairing a small crack in the fairing and giving a basic service all ready for the 2013 season.

Hope to see you on the road.

Michael

  jump starting a car
Posted by: phil on a fazer - 14-01-13, 08:56 PM - Forum: General - Replies (7)

Walked into one of the offices at work today to be greeted by three woman asking me how to jump start a car (its because 1 of the had a flat battery last week).

So...i told them.

They then showed me some sites that they were looking at and asked why they show the jump leads being connected in different orders.

im pretty sure they were looking at these sites, (they all show a different connection order!!)

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/store...eId=851420

http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/bre...leads.html

http://www.wikihow.com/Jump-Start-a-Car

this got me thinking........i've always done it the halfords way. (strating with "+" on the flat battery). ive always let the batteries settle before starting the donar car (and letting it idle).....but am i right????? its always worked  Big Grin

Well after five years and five winters 4 bikes  and 85k miles later i now own a car  :rolleyes

Strange as i'm more paranoid about crashing the car in this weather and i felt safer on the bike  :eek

So i'm now in the fair weather bikers club  Big Grin my fazer 03 will be getting a full strip down soon.
