Posted by: Gingernutz - 12-03-13, 12:04 AM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (3)

Do to the impending arrival a midlife crisis - Alfa Romeo 147- my little reliable runaround is up for a quick sale. It's a canyon red VW Polo 1999  with 107k miles. The engine was replaced with a reconditioned one about 10000 miles ago (18 months ago) so the cambelt etc was done then

There is six months mot and tax on it. £600 ono Pictures to follow if there is anything interest. I'm collecting the Alfa on Sunday in Leicester so if you live there ill give you 50 off  Big Grin . PM me for details

Posted by: popeye72 - 11-03-13, 05:22 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (14)

ok gurus, i have flush fit front indicators, fitted when i bought the bike. front right bulb blew and i couldnt find a direct replacement, its a 12v 23/8w it has staggerd baynets and they are not 180 degrees apart, if that makes sense. i cant find them anywhere i fitted a small 12v 10w orange indicator bulb that works for about 3 flashes then both front and back flash fast??? if i put hazards on they all flash normal, left hand indcators flash ok, when i moved the lamp to the other side it happened there so definatly the bulb. i know its the bulb but cannot find one??? :o

  She's back
Posted by: reillypadraig - 11-03-13, 01:57 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (18)

Yes lads I have my darling home after so many nights of me wandering out to an empty shed and going wtf am I going to do now? Nothing to do, clean or fiddle with haha.
But one week later and 300 quid less she's back but I'm still pissed of.

The guy that I brought it 2 firstly took out the carbs and cleaned them( even though I told him I done it over and over again) then put them back in and ran it and still no good so he fiddled ( even though I told him I did) then he tells me it was running that rich that it was putting the spark out on the 3rd cylinder,

So he goes off and buys a second hand carb, puts it in and goes there, sounds ok, it will do ya know its not a race bike and doesn't have to run perfect and then has the bollox to turn round and say they bikes aren't great anyway?

Then puts out his hand like a spoilt child and says 300quid plz, oh and by the way I didn't dyno it at all ( even though that was the reason I brought it to him in the first foccing place!!') and he didn't dyno jet it like he said he would, said he would jet it and dyno it to run perfect for 300.
But no bolloxed around for 2 days with old set then bought 2nd hand one and said it will do. Bollox oh and then he said by the way I cut your pipes for the heating system for your carbs????????? So I looked and low and behold he cut the pipe an inch and a half from the rad and stuck a screw in it and the same at the thermostat!! Said you don't need it in this country, wel I surpose but I would have liked to be the one to be the judge of that!

But now it does have all the low down power back and the top when I give it beans. Just low revs and wot don't mix, have to easy it on till about 4-5 k then she will take any trottle

Just A picture of her in the shed getting fixed
One odd angled one  :b

Is it the gearbox or me ?
Posted by: simonm - 11-03-13, 12:46 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (14)

I've been riding for about two months now but I've driven cars for 18 odd years.  I'm confused by the way my bike is acting but I don't know if it's me or not (it's different to the gs500 I learnt on).

1st to 2nd is fine but clunky (the way I understand Fazers are)
The rest of the gears upward need working (sometimes I have to try twice) to get them in in gear.  I don't think it's my clutch control but I'm not 100% sure.

I pull the clutch lever in, move my toe up and the gear lever moves most of the way but doesn't click.  I release the clutch and try again and it does.  This happens too often and regularly for me to believe completely that it's my clutch control.

I think the play on the clutch lever is okay too.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong or what the problem is ?

Cheers
Simon

ps I also noticed this whilst trying to do clutchless gear changes up the box I think 4th is okay (but it could be one of the others, I'm not good at keeping track of the gear I'm in since it's a bit sticky), but 3rd, 5th and 6th just will not engage after preloading and rolling off the throttle.
