  Dealers
Posted by: Yamazer-92 - 11-04-13, 01:19 PM - Forum: General - Replies (14)

Just wondering on your opinion of bike dealers and salesmen. 3 of my 4 bikes have been from dealers, including the Fazer and all of them have been in my opinion fairly priced and the dealers have provided good, polite service. The dealers were SP motorcycles in Exeter and Greenlane in Exeter although it think that may have closed now. Personally, I like them but have friends who have had good and bad experiences concerning dealers.

I'm not sure if I am in the wrong here or not, but I phoned up a dealership in Exeter today that I haven't mentioned above and enquired politely about test rides and their policy on them. I mentioned I was interested in their DRZ 400. The guy asked how old I was, which is fair enough as he said you have to be 21 for insurance purposes which I'm not yet, then got really arsey all of a sudden saying how it's impolite to just say "I want to ride your bikes" and how it makes them "nervous" when you ask. Really? I was quite shocked how the conversation turned so abruptly and wasn't really sure what to say. I hadn't been impolite to him and he was making out that because I hadn't come and personally asked them about the bike, sat on it etc (there are about 10 HD pics of it on their website, all details are written about it and I am 6 foot 4 and have sat on similar bikes so know I will fit on it) that I was being rude, he advised me to never start a conversation like that again. I apologised, but it's pissed me off to be honest thinking back as I think he was the one being rude.

I've been to that dealership before and sat on bikes and yes I agree they get an idea of what you are like etc and can gauge a bit better if you are trustworthy but surely they can understand that it's a bit easier to politely phone rather than have a 70 mile round trip in the rain just to sit on a bike ummming and aarring to be told "no" anyway. Not happy.

52 plate Fazer 1000 for sale
Posted by: hux - 11-04-13, 01:08 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (1)

I'm thinking about changing my Fazer for a Triumph (Tiger or Speed Triple), Ducati (Multistrada or ST4) or a Blackbird so before it goes in as a p/ex is anyone interested? The details are:
19.5k miles, FSH, blue, new MOT, new wavy disks and pads, removable baffle can + standard, crash bungs, heated grips, hugger, all consumables good, renntec rack and top box. One small ding on the tank, light scuff on the tail piece from soft luggage and a couple of chips on the wheels. For pics please email me at hux.21@hotmail.com or call for a chat about it on 07768024370 thanks Marc. £2500. Or if you happen to have a suitable bike and want to work out a deal let me know!  Smile

  Windscreen Wipers
Posted by: darrsi - 11-04-13, 11:02 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (46)

After chatting with a fellow Foccer mate, and seeing different bikers on a daily basis, it has become apparent to me that not everyone knows about the Vee Wipe that exists to greatly improve your vision in wet conditions.
I thought i'd give the newer bikers on here the heads up as it is such a simple but essential bit of kit.
It's simply a piece of silicone rubber that fits over your gloved index finger that is shaped like a windscreen wiper blade.
I've forgotten mine a couple of times due to changing bike jackets and got caught out in the rain, and simply can't believe how people can ride in wet weather without it. Wiping rain away with a dirty glove just smears crap all over your visor, whereas one quick 'wipe' will clear your visor cleanly just the same as a windscreen wiper would.
If you haven't got one already then spend a few quid and get one, in my opinion they are a must have and will last you a couple of years before needing to change it due to a 'worn out' blade.  :thumbup

How easy is it to install a new (nicer) speedo. Basically bought a sad bike without a quality one and would love appreciate some help with getting another speedo on there. Any help would be very much appreciated, I am very new to the bike world.

Garage recommendations for fairing repairs, East London
Posted by: Arfa - 11-04-13, 09:44 AM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Had a slight off on my Fazer, due to some stupid SMIDSY pulling out on me. Dropped the bike at low speed, no injuries thankfully, and now trying to claim on his insurance.

Damage is just cosmetic, cracked/scuffed front fairing (possibly with bent brackets), crumpled/broken belly pan (genuine Yammy one), bent bobbins, scratched bar ends and pillion pegs. Bike is still ridable, just looks a mess.

Insurance company have asked me to get a quote for repairs, with a view to doing the work if liability is assigned correctly. Anyone recommend anyone between London Bridge, East End and Dagenham?

  Gloves for small/odd shaped hands
Posted by: humbucker88 - 11-04-13, 09:42 AM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

Morning foccers, I'm currently looking for some new gloves but I have normal sized palms with stubby little fingers, it's impossible to find gloves that fit, if i can get my hand in them the fingers are too long, if the fingers are a good length I can't get my hand in them! Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know of decent shortfingered gloves? I'm thinking I might look at the asian range/fitting gloves?

I have Recently bought a 99 fazer that has been a little bit streetfightered. Just on here to get tips on the bike etc. I've only been riding for a few months so I don't consider myself a proper biker yet.
