  Dripping exhaust
Posted by: Purplejust - 02-05-13, 09:16 PM - Forum: General - Replies (9)

I started up my 2002 fzs 600 Fazer tonight, checking bits and bobs as ya do.  After a while I noticed a small puddle under the bike, on inspection I noticed water dripping, there are three small holes on the lower portion of the stainless steel exhaust.  Have I got a busted exhaust or is this normal? Any ideas? Thanks.

  bike misfiring at around 25mph
Posted by: aj1soad - 02-05-13, 08:53 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (9)

so i decided to give my bike a proper clean using in these steps, WD40, de greaser, autoglym car shampoo, then once dry i gave it a coat of WD40. took the bike for a spin and mainly in 3rd gear when im doing around 25mph and give it some power it misfires like water has gone into something. once im doing 35mph or more it runs fine. when i first noticed it i came back home and gave it another coat of WD40 and it seemed to have made it worse.  ive changed the plugs and ive dried the rubber part that goes onto the plugs and its still doing the same. any idea what i could have done?

Bike unused for a while - a few problems!
Posted by: Steve1rc - 02-05-13, 06:49 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (16)

Hi,

I've not ridden my bike in over a month now due to a knee injury, but I finally managed to get it out, in time for the sunny days to go for a ride. I expected the battery to be dead and put it on charge for a while, but it still needed jumping to start.
Checked the oil, chain etc and set out gently on it, but after a couple of miles the dials and odometer stopped working intermittently (Mainly when I accelerated..) and then they cut out completely, and only showed back up briefly when I indicated.

It also started running on (I think 3 cylinders, and then 2 at some points) And I had no power to accelerate. I'd turned back home but along the dual carriageway I must've only been able to do 50 or so (I couldn't tell speed..) in top gear, and everytime I accelerated the engine started braking and I lost speed, and what acceleration I could get was really jerky, so I coaxed it home. It had to be bump started a few times as well, as the revs just dropped off completely and it lost all power. It was backfiring a few times too, the worst being when I changed down after losing most power.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what it could be? I'm new to motorbikes so have plenty to learn.. I'm guessing the power may have something to do with the alternator, but even when I put the battery on charge it still seems to have no power. If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it as I'm pretty stumped!!

Thanks!

  Fz1 indicator tip
Posted by: stevierst - 02-05-13, 12:58 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (2)

Just bought a set of led indys for my pride and joy as the originals were huge.
Only problem is that for the fz1s you need spacers to stop the new Indy from rattling around in the fairing slot, this costs a fiver or more. :-[
The old indicators are rubber mounted with a plastic 'clip' to hold them in.
This clip is almost the same shape as the fairing slot. To centralize the new Indy in the fairing, this clip is spot on. All I did was file off a couple of mm from each  end of the tabs, and fit it in the rear of the fairing mounting hole so the raised portion was located inside the slot.
Just fit the new indys in, et voilla! Indicator spacers for free! They'll even fit back in the old indicators should you wish to refit them!

As many know, I have a black box eye, which could do with a respray and some TLC.

I was thinking of maybe spraying the frame red to go with it, so I asked a friend to mock it up in photoshop.

What do you guys think? I'm undecided...
