  Front fairing frame bracket.
Posted by: noggythenog - 04-07-13, 08:45 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Well a combination of ratcheting down tightly with handlebar straps & about 500 pot holes later & ive gone & snapped the little fairing bracket off where it joins the frame :o .

Just checking what options i have, should i get someone to weld it back together or is there any alternative way of attaching it on?.

Cheers

  Proskins under garments
Posted by: Punkstig - 04-07-13, 08:35 AM - Forum: General - Replies (4)

Well guys, if you hadn't noticed its starting to get warm.

I'm sure many of you have been in a bike shop at some point and noticed all these fan dangled miracle claiming materials that magically keep you cool or warm etc etc, you've probably thought 'yeh, right, pull the other one, then you've probably seen the price tag and thought £30 for some skinny material I put on under my leathers, piss off!'

Well, as a courier its important to be comfortable being on a bike for hours at a time, in the winter I use Rukka (which I swear by) and its easy to add layers to stay warm, but during the summer obviously it's more difficult to stay cool but still have decent clothing protection.
I wear leather track pants in the summer along with a joe rocket summer jacket (its like a teabag with pads in it)
Under the leathers I wear the proskins trousers and they are just awesome,
forget about the 'keeps you cool' they claim, they don't magically make you think you got air conditioning in your pants, but they do make wearing leathers very very comfortable!

Now I've also had a cheap aldi set and a very expensive rukka set (half price sale!) of these types of clothing and non of them are as good as the proskins!

For any of you safety conscious riders out there (I cannot stand the amount of riders I see in shorts and tshirts, but that's not for this topic) I seriously recommend you get a set for under your leathers, do not be put off by the price, they are worth every single penny!

  bike making funny noise
Posted by: lee741 - 03-07-13, 10:14 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (19)

Hi everyone,
I wonder if someone can shed a bit of light on my problem. Whilst riding my bike today,it has started to make a funny noise. the best way to describe it, is that it sounds like a very loud electric bike?? it only happens whilst riding. If I rev it in neutral it sounds fine.
Thanks, Lee.

  Breakdown cover (best vs cheapest)
Posted by: simonm - 03-07-13, 08:57 PM - Forum: General - Replies (25)

I don't have breakdown cover.  I'm not exactly a liability  :rolleyes  but I've had 2 low speed incidents (read fall off's) in the 7 months I've been riding (read in to that what you will).  I'm now considering going for a ride with the lofo's and wondering if I want to be possibly be stranded 100 miles away from home (I don't) and the bike is 13 odd years old too and I'm scared of punctures (and may have made some enemies recently  :lol ) etc.

So I've been thinking about breakdown insurance.  The best option seems to be the AA and the RAC because they provide car and motorbike cover for no more money.  It seems a no brainer as a cager to make use of that.  However....  Apparently they know nowt about motorbikes (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/show...747&page=1) .

My questions are:

  • Is this a false economy ?
  • are there better deals out there from a known big brand (voucher codes/referrals/cashback etc)
  • Is going for the RAC/AA an idea as any sort of cover is better than none
I've looked at money saving expert and hotukdeals but I thought I'd ask you lot too.

TIA (sorry for posting so much but this seemed like a good question)

I want to know about these please. Lifetime warranty must be a good thing, surely.
