  Shower pipework duct construction
Posted by: Simon.Pieman - 29-07-13, 01:53 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

I'm getting conflicting information from the plumbers/builders in my local pub about construction of this. I need to create a half height duct against a bathroom wall to house the shower pipework running into a concealed tap unit. Nobody can seem to agree on the timber size and type for the frame, I could use studwork but timber is more easily obtainable. I'll be putting tiling backing board on the frame and 8mm tiles on top. So, would 1'' square be good enough or 1'' X 2"" perhaps? What type of timber? treated or not?

Fazer fzs600 generator cover wanted (1998)
Posted by: Wil - 29-07-13, 12:58 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - No Replies

Hi,

I threw my bike down the road yesterday and cracked the generator cover, if anyone has one (don't mind as to the condition as long as it will still work) could you get in touch?

No rush as I'm not going to be riding it for the next few weeks...

Cheers,

Will

  Hello.
Posted by: Wil - 29-07-13, 12:54 PM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (2)

Hello,

I've recently bought a 98 fzs600, and thought this seems like a good place to chat & find some spare parts as I'm bored...

A bit of over confidence on the way off a roundabout yesterday has left my lovely new (to me) bike a tad scratched down the left side of it, my foot in a pot and me quite sad

I've cracked the generator cover, wing mirror bracket and fairing, so if anyone knows of any going I'd be most appreciative (especially the generator cover as I can't seem to see any on ebay)

Cheers,

Wil

Any biker meets coming up in S.Wales
Posted by: hawkeye - 29-07-13, 11:18 AM - Forum: Events, Meets, Ride outs etc - Replies (39)

Past few years seem to have been lacking biker bashes in s.Wales , we use to have quite a few including the Welsh bike show in Builth Wells , i know they still have the Beer bikes bash but have not seen much else locally , done Weston bike night few times ,Paignton big bike event weekend and Poole bike night ,done few runs to the Ace cafe (love the place but hate those roads) too much riding in crazy
traffic and bunged up roads , so are there any decent events coming up local-ish ?

Posted by: Bubs348 - 29-07-13, 08:52 AM - Forum: Introduction - Replies (3)

Morning, Bubs here from sunny St Neots, Cambs. Had to sell my FSZ1000 in 2010 to buy my house. Now I am the proud owner of a FZ1 Fazer in red with a wicked Akropovic which sounds awsome. Back in the saddle at last and totally loving it, rode the bike back from Kent last Wednesday with a stop at the Ace cafe. Am never ever being without a bike again !!!!!! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

PS how do you up load a picture of your bike ? cheers

  Exhaust valve
Posted by: Bubs348 - 29-07-13, 08:41 AM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Hi I have just purchased a 2006 FZ1, love the bike. The bike has a Akropovic exhaust fitted and came with the original Yamaha exhaust. I noticed that the original has an exhaust power valve, while the Akropovic does not, does this effect the bike ?

Cheers Bubs :eek

TYRES - which suit the Gen 1 Thou for hitting the back roads.......
Posted by: Camshaft - 29-07-13, 08:39 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (29)

Currently using Conti Road Attack 2's and so far are happy with them.

Amy suggestions for a good tyre not worrying too much about tread life but more emphasis on grip and feel.

  Tall / touring screen
Posted by: Newgolddream - 28-07-13, 09:41 PM - Forum: FZ6 / FZ6 Fazer - Replies (12)

Anyone know of a sensibly priced taller or touring screen that works for my '04 FZ6. I'm 6' tall but long body so getting a bit of a battering with standard screen.
Are there any decent add-ons to the original screen?

Also, could do with a second hand luggage rack and fittings if anyone has one laying around.

The old FZS was so much more practical and easier to to buy accessories for!

  Talking Guitars (Again?)
Posted by: nick crisp - 28-07-13, 08:13 PM - Forum: General - Replies (90)

After our little chat concerning the ol' git-fiddles today Exup, here's a pic of my current Takamine acoustic (nothing special, but nice tone).
As I said, I tend to fingerpick a mix of blues, celtic and folk sounds on this. The celtic stuff is so relaxing to play. Check out Tony McManus for the best celtic acoustic guitar you'll ever hear. Al Petteway for celtic with an American slant. (Shenandoah anyone?). Am working on a couple of Irish jigs and reels, the jigs are a bugger to play at full speed!
Second photo is of my favourite ever Strat, alas, like many others, I no longer have it. This had a beautiful tone, bought for £400 many years ago, eventually sold for same. Then saw one in Macari's (Charing X), going for about 2g's! And mine had a far nicer grain too :rolleyes  I'd love for someone to tell me what wood that body is?
Have had a Stevie Ray Vaughan signature series, which a mate brought back from a pawn shop in AUSTIN, TEXAS, no less! (spiritual home of the late great Stevie himself).
Also had another Strat, USA Deluxe, tobacco sunburst again, but white scratch plate, also sold now. Don't currently have an electric, but have use of my brother's Tele, another beauty that used to be mine, and a couple of Gordon Smiths. (one Les Paul rep, one L.P. Junior rep). Don't like Les Pauls on the whole, not enough variation and don't want to end up with a slouch like Jimmy Page! (too damn heavy).
Must get together for a jam sometime, my flat-picking is a little rusty, but it'll soon come back. Texas shuffles a la SRV are my speciality!
