  Removing a stuck carb screw
Posted by: HazzaBui - 04-08-13, 05:21 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hi all,

Got a bit of a problem with the bike (again Sad ) - I thought I'd save myself some cash and have a go at changing my cam chain myself (needed doing pretty badly).
I got the chain in ok using the split link method, and that all looks fine.  Problem is, the tensioner is extended out too far for me to get the inlet cam back on with the chain on.
No problem I thought, I'll just reset the tensioner.  So I proceeded to start undoing stuff to take the carbs off (can't quite access the tensioner bolt throught the cars), but now the screw holding the jubilee clip thing, which keeps the carbs on, is stuck.  And to make matters worse, the guy who was helping me has done a nice job of rounding off the head, so can't get any purchase on it.
I did try an impact driver to get it out, but it just spun the clip around the carb, and now it's at the wrong angle.  It's for cylinder 3, so access isn't ideal.

tl;dr the screw holding the carb clip thing is seized and threaded

So, any suggestions from anyone on how to get the bastard out?

Thanks in advance!
Harry

  problems after a lay up!
Posted by: chromedome1975 - 04-08-13, 04:54 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (10)

Hi all. I have had my 2002 fazer layed up for about 18 months, due to a spine op and recovery. It is having real problems starting and cuts out when i come to a stop. It is also running on 3 cylinders. I'm pretty sure the main issue is the carbs all bunged up and it is going in the garage to be done on tuesday to have them done. Any other things i need to be checking? Thanks

Out in the cage and had a bike (125 I reckon) behind me in a 40 zone.  Quite a busy area which then goes to 30.

Couldn't beleive it when he started texting!! Quite easy though as he wasn't wearing gloves....  Anyway, he made it through the town alive, all the way to where I live. Just before that, he was texting again - phone resting on middle of bars, head down. I gently (anything sharper else and there was a high chance he'd find out how hard the back of a saab is Smile ) slowed from 40 to 30 for the limit change. When he looked up and found me a bit closer than last time he looked he got somewhat irrate. Various 'racing gestures' and shaking his head. Sorry sunshine, I know it's not the done thing for the yoof of today, but take some responsibility for yerself    :rolleyes

  Exhaust port headers?
Posted by: bigfootpete - 04-08-13, 10:42 AM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

Not sure of the exact term for them, but I'm talking about the connection between the exhaust outlet and the exhaust headers.

Mine are looking pretty rusty and corroded, I was looking at getting them replaced, any recommendations?
