  end can
Posted by: coke66 - 06-09-13, 02:02 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (18)

If the original exhaust on a 600 fazer is replaced with a viper end can, do the carbs need to be "down jetted?"
Find that when throttle wound back hard, engine misses - but if done gently ok, also after 40 mile ride other evening parked up for quick smoke and when tried to start off again bike wouldnt fire up and smelt of petrol as if choke was on, gave her half an hour and started ok !
Any ideas  :o
Thanks Smile

  Goodbye EXUPNUT

Bye Exup.

It's going to be sad not seeing you on the road anymore. I'm sure you'll miss the rideouts, maybe even miss your job?  :eek

Well, enjoy the pedestrian life!

To those confused by this post: Exupnut told me he was sending his licence back to the DVLA when I passed my car driving test. Time for him to send it off, I passed this morning!!  :lol :lol :lol

And for Nick Crisp:

:'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Just because.  Wink

'New' Project, few issues... Now to start fixing them!
Posted by: thunderpantz - 06-09-13, 10:08 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi all recently bought a 2000 fazer 600. Absolutely brilliant bike, love it. A little 'ugly' at the moment (been dropped at some point so has a mis matched coloured headlight fairing), engine paint flaking, but that's all in hand. Engine runs sweet, gear box is smooth. My first bike and now my little project.

Now the issues:

One of the forks are leaking; I'm going to 'make' a Seal Mate to try and get any grit out, if that fails then it's time to replace the seals. How difficult is this?

The clutch cable is a little 'slack', i have a new one ready to go on.

The odometer isn't saving the trips or the time and resets when the keys removed. The main trip counter is fine which i'm assuming is eeprom based. Guessing the permanent live isn't working.

There is Gun Gum around the inlet seals (which would tell me the seals are cracked)  need to get these replaced

Also going to change the oil, filters and plugs just to keep him happy. Pics will follow soon enough.... it's just hammering it down at the moment Sad

Anything else i should be looking out for... any one in the West Mids care to lend a hand  :lol

Off topic (off the reservation): What does rhyme with hug me ?
Posted by: simonm - 06-09-13, 09:22 AM - Forum: General - Replies (6)

I'd go with bug (Slug a close second (first for everyone else), and maybe tug for a third).

Any other decent lyrics (apart from the obvious http://www.buzzfeed.com/perpetua/words-r...ith-hug-me) from you budding musicians out there ?

Please don't tell me you need context.  If you don't know what I'm talking about ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyDUC1LUXSU

  Speedo is bollixed
Posted by: minidazzler - 06-09-13, 04:35 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (2)

Hi guys,

Bought my FZS600 a month ago knowing the Speedo was broke but thinking it was the drive gear/rotor gear. I replaced that, as it was broken, and it still isn't working.

I'm now thinking it's the part on the wire itself, but can't be sure. Anyone got any idea's on how to test what the problem is? It's getting annoying seeing the revs go all lovely but seeing the speedo needle sit at 0 :/

I hope you guys can help.

Rgds,
Gavin.

FZS600 - Very Low Mileage and Excellent Condtion
Posted by: Biglewey - 05-09-13, 10:15 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (9)

See my bike and gear for sale on ebay.

The sad story is that I came on FOC_U many moons ago and based on advice (good advice) bought a FAZER 600 2003 one of the last of this model to be registered.

Well I loved that bike but in 2009 a major back problem nearly put me in a wheelchair - I joke not. Since then I have recovered but never really got confortable on the bike (I just felt having been so close to being disabled it was not worth the risk) and I have lost some strength so it just doesnt make sense. I've put it off for too long.

The bike is 2003 and genuine 6300 dry miles apart from one FOC-U weekender! The bike and all the gear are in good condition. The bike has been kept immaculate and cleaned after every ride and never ridden on salty roads. All standard apart from added gear indicator and heated grips.

This is one of the last of this mark to be registered and has sat in my garage since 2009 apart from the very infrequent short weekend ride.

I want it to go where it will be cherished and ridden as it should rather than stuck in my garage gathering dust.

If you want a FSZ600 you wont find a nicer example so bag it .....
