  K&N washable air filter
Posted by: esetest - 09-10-13, 02:24 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (10)

I,m gonna need to replace my air filter in the new year , and am looking to get the K&N one , how long do they last compared to a standard one , or is it a case of just cleaning it at intervals with a service kit instead of replacing it .

  Standard exhaust
Posted by: Mazzamark - 09-10-13, 12:08 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (1)

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has an 07 FZ1 exhaust sitting around that they would like to sell?

I'm moving to Portugal and the sound test on the MOT is savage.

Many thanks,

Mark

First attempt with my new cam Ride home from work
No Trackdays, no scenic country lanes and no exotic mountain passes - just the ride home from work.

Bugetish cam (Polaroid XS100) but I'm impressed. Shows it works in low light and stabilisation does work - mounted on the ram mount where my GPS normally goes. Some sequences are sped up before you accuse me of being a total nutter. Originally filmed in full HD but downscaled by Youtube.

  Gear lever
Posted by: Fuzzy - 08-10-13, 10:41 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (13)

Noticed something curious this evening. A bit of an obscure thing but thought I'd ask as I can't figure it out.

I was taking apart a spare lhs footpeg hanger with all the gear linkage bits still attached so I could clean it up and replace the tatty set currently on my bike. The bushings are a bit worn and the lever action is sloppy so I thought I'd replace the lever and the part that it fits onto that holds the footpeg.

Anyway, after seperating all the parts, I looked at the gear lever and something just didn't look right. Checked it against the one on my bike and indeed they are different.

It has an extra bend or two in it as you can see in the photo. The one on my bike is straighter and looks like this one in the link and, as a matter of fact, many others on ebay.

It's definitely not damaged and bent out of shape, and it came off a Fazer 600 and is the same in every other respect. I checked with AJ Sutton and the part numbers for the gear lever for 98' and 03' models are different... but I was never aware that they differed between model years?

So what the foc have I got here and what have you got on your Fazer?

  Textile clothing recommendations
Posted by: peterjca - 08-10-13, 08:35 PM - Forum: General - Replies (2)

This morning I managed to knacker my 7 year old Alpinestars leather jeans. Was leaving the house for work when I noticed the zip was sticking and had opened out. Whilst trying to get out of them, I ripped some of the innards and leather round the crotch.

This has pre-empted the need for buying some new gear, which I was putting off to after Xmas as I'm dieting and have a few stone to lose. So now I'm thinking that rather than get new leathers (which I will get next year), I'll get some textile gear for Winter instead, especially since I've never had any decent waterproof/winter gear. And textiles that will be a bit larger for me when I have lost the weight will be preferable to baggy leathers. Well, that's what I'm thinking! lol

I'd appreciate recommendations for textile gear. Is the HG stuff any good? What about Alpinestars, Rukka etc.?
