Bought a nice Oxford paddock stand for the rear, no centre stand on mine, and it has the rubber cups. Great for some bikes but not the FZS600 due to the caliper. Got some hooks coming now. So........ bobbins, easy to drill and tap swing arm for them, but what do the rest of you do that use a paddock stand. I may well drill and tap the axle to receive them. My bike leans over a fair way so it'll be entertaining any ways :lol
so what system do you lot use?

Hi all, going to look at / buy a 1999 600 tomorrow, is there anything I should look out for on this model that causes any major issues?
All the best Dave.

Hi,
My bike came fitted with a scotoiler (one of the ones that goes behind the number plate - touring?) The bike was a Cat C write off and I got it roadworthy over a weekend, all good. The rear wheel and pretty much the entire chain side of the under side rear of the bike (including sprocket and rim) were covered in thick tar like cocktail of grease/oil and dirt. It really was quite impressive sitting at minimum 2mm + all over.
Anyway, the bike came taxed and MOT'd and I insured it just in case of theft really as I was not planning on using it yet, I used it this week to come to work on due to major problems on the M6. I took the bike out unwashed etc as I had simply dry fit everything to check I had all fasteners and bits and bobs before stripping it back and starting the cleaning/painting.
Parked up at work and I noticed oil on the chain side of the back tyre again -it reaches about an inch in (where the chicken strip would be). I assumed it was centrifugal force spinning the grime off the wheel so I cleaned all that off, spick and span. I noticed this morning that oil was still on the tyre and the rim was, again, filthy.
I have no experience with Scotoilers and don't know anyone who has, I am contemplating removing it completely to avoid the problem. When correctly adjusted do they give off any "fling"? I am used to simply oiling chains every now and then and they do have a bit of fling but nothing like this oiler.
I have turned the oiler down to its minimum setting after reading the online manual at work. It seems to have been set to the max setting in the range - not set to prime) (the adjuster is limited min/max by two pipes - is this correct?)
Cheers,
NW

Greetings Peeps
Just traded my 09 Street triple for a 1year old beautiful black Fazer8. I don't normally ride in winter so only been out on it for a 40 mile spin and now the gritter truck has been out! Quite impressed so far, the build quality is certainly good and the ride more comfortable due to softer suspension and more upright position. I have cranked the rear shock pre load up 2 clicks to 7th notch having read about the soft rear and I must say this feels fine. Intend to do some European touring next year so the Striple had to go, great bike though and missing it's engine already!

(copied from another forum, so not being patronising to guys in the know about these bikes!)
Im selling my fazer, as Ive never really got along with it, and ive just bought a new dirt bike anyway.
Its a 1998 model, and Im the second owner, Its only covered 14k from new, and has recently had new carb rubbers (well known problem on these)
I did crash it last year, cracking the top fairing, and cracking the generator cover, but Ive done 6000 miles including some horrendous storms, with no problems.
Bike will come with Givi rack and 60litre top box.
It has recent mot, and is taxed till next year.
The problems
Theres a nail in the 500 mile old back tyre, seems to hold air for months though
The front fairing is missing a corner piece
the rad pipe hose (rubber ones) got a pin hole in it, and leaked, I put a piece of rubber over it, and cabled tied it to hell, 1000 miles later, its not lost a drop, so I left it like that.
It has red grips....
gold rear wheel, black front.
no rear pillion handles, or grommets.
The good bits
Recent mot, tyres, and tax
this engine will easy do 100k and ive changed the oil every 3k.
Recent oil and filter.
air filter is nice and clean
new carb rubbers (these are £100 alone, before fitting the bastards, which is a pain in the arse)
downpipes and can are solid (another problem on these)

the black wrap has been removed now from the rear end.
the bike wont indlude the iphone mount or jota handlebars,
I will supply the bike with original handlebars, and the aftermarket screen as well as the original.
it also wont come with the DRLs as I will be fitting these to my other bike.
Would make good winter hack, or with a bit of attention, and all rounder
£1000. ovno.
Located central Stafford.

just ordered a bottle of acf50 and whilst it may be a bit late now, I wonder what the views are of this product...and any tips for application.
(not used it before and bike only really comes out in winter on dry days). 8)
