  Buyers Guide?
Posted by: Paul Kent - 20-01-14, 10:40 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (7)

I couldnt find a specific buyers guide, bit late now any way  :rolleyes

But what are the main things to do, check on them?
On my old CCM I had to turn the fuel tap off pretty mych all the time as the fuel would drain down, does this model have that issue?

Secondly I'd like to install a 12v socket, is there a how to guide anywhere?
Also, wheres the best place for parts and accessories?
I'd like to get a belly pan, rear hugger, new levers, probably a few other bits once i have actually seen it !

Thanks

  What to get for him...?
Posted by: adeejaysdelight - 20-01-14, 10:06 PM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

My mate just did a load of work my car for me. Fitted tyres. Service. Software update. Fitted pads and discs and even machined the front discs because the wrong ones were supplied.

Now we have been mates for nearly 20 years and he will not take money, so I always buy hime something.

He rides a SV650. I was going to get him a rear spring from Hyperpro or a set of braided lines and 25mm dog bones. The 2 things he complains about are braking and suspention. He has changed the front springs to Hyperpro progressive numbers, so that would match up with the rear. But, when we were at the Nurburgring last year he said about the spongyness of the brakes... So lines and dog bones would address both issues.

Ideas. And if anyone has or has had an SV650, please share your thoughts.

And no, I am not getting him a Fazer (although I have made the suggestion  Wink )

How do you find your way
Posted by: Paul Kent - 20-01-14, 08:28 PM - Forum: General - Replies (18)

Right, the thing is Ive bought a bike oop north and I'm gonna ride it home Saturday but not being a well travelled biker i dont have a sat nav for a bike and I dont feel I need one as I'll not be doing that many journeys where I'll need one.
I'm thinking of just having my i pad in my rucksack and have the directions through an earphone ?

Any other suggestions?

  My Old Divvy 600
Posted by: Bigfellabuck - 20-01-14, 08:20 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (5)

Hi there Peeps, I have recently bought a TDM 900 so my divvy has to go and mines a 97 600S. I bought it about 3 1/2 years ago with 37000 on it and have only done 43000 or so now. She has had a lot of TLC and have spent loads on her getting up to the standard she's in now.The only let down is the tank as it was dented when I got it and I aint been able to source one. I have put braided hoses on her aswell as Givi rack and coocase topbox (48 ltr ) She's had oil n filter changes in April every year regardless of mileage, new plugs, air filter, rear tyre (battlax),rear shocker 8000 miles old and complete really good exhaust last year. I also replaced the engine base gasket as it was leaking on the left hand side but not no more. As you'd expect there are a few scrapes and scratches on her and the fairing I paid £75 for last year is racing green and not the metallic green as original. She starts on the button every time and has a 1 year old Motobatt battery on. She also has an alarm/ immobiliser and is T&T'd till May this year. I'll send you some pics if you like. She also has heated grips fitted which come in handy this time of year and a front fender extender also the front tyre has only done about 2000 mls if that. I'm looking for £700 for a quick sale o.v.n.o.I know how good she is for riding and I don't want her doing nowt and stood seizing up month by month so if she do'nt go on here I'll advertise her elsewhere. I would break her but i think she'll do somebody a fair few miles yet.Regards Rich

  Early retirement.
Posted by: Mattsplat - 20-01-14, 06:58 PM - Forum: General - Replies (19)

Due to health reasons Ive been retired early, very early  :eek

Been on the sick for a couple of years having numerous ops but I refuse to 'lay down and die' like Im supposed to do  :rolleyes

IF you was in my position, what would you do with your time?

I tried running a webshop selling bike spares but I just ended up in debt and with a load of crap I couldnt shift  :rolleyes

Any ideas how I can suppliment my limited income?

Trawling round for insurance quotes for the mighty Thou. So far ranging from £603 to £112 (current insurer).

Hmmm, tough choice.

  Meta Alarm
Posted by: Keef1951 - 20-01-14, 04:06 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

l have to apologise at the outset - I dont own a fazer - VFR Im afraid.  I came upon your Fazer community whilst searching for a fix for the notorious Meat Alarm. I read several articles here iand thought I was sorted but sadly no,and now I am asking if anyone has any ideas.

The problem - battery in the alarm is dead and its impossible to start the bike. A very common issue with Meta alarms - mine is an M357. I aimed to bridge the connections and have both the guide and pic that is on your sight and also nicked a copy of the pin out. Having tried to bridge as described the bike will turnover but will not fire. In fact if i go by the pin out and the pic - it turns over but the hazard warning lights come on when I tested the indicator. If I remove the jumper on pins 1 and 2 and just use the jumper on pins 3 and 4 - the bike turns over and the indicators behave themselves. My suspicion is that I need to bridge elsewhere on the block to allow the bike to fire up but which two I dont know.

If anyone has any guidance or fix that would be great. Again sorry to "abuse" your forum

Cheers Keith

  Cracked top fairing
Posted by: timsky99 - 20-01-14, 11:00 AM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (8)

I have an 01 round shaped fairing FZS 600 that is both stress fractured and cracked, all on one side.

Couple of questions for people out there:

Does anyone know of somewhere I can get the fairing repaired in Norfolk or Suffolk, and

If I were to replace is it practical to update the fairing with the facelift 02/03 version?

Cheers
