Almost since as long back as I can remember my bike has been making a noise that I’ve been unable to locate.
The closest I can get to describing it is that it sounds like the rattle you get from the clutch basket when you pull the clutch in.
Its not overly loud but I do notice it up to around 30 to 40mph. It might be there at higher speed but its drowned out by other noises.
Its a constant tone and doesn’t change with road speed or if the clutch is in or out.
I’ve checked just about everything from fairing panels rattling , through from mudguard resonating to chain tension.
I did at one point think it was the front tyre as it seemed to disappear after I replaced it, but I soon heard it again.
The one thing that’s just struck me was that perhaps its no more than a loose Exup valve rattling away.
Could it be this? I’ve serviced it regularly so I know its free. I wonder if its too free!

This is a stunning looking bike. This bike has a belly pan, heated grips, touring screen (OEM screen is available), and an Yamahas Akrapovic factory titanium end exhaust with removable baffle ? (OEM exhaust is also available). Datatool S4 alarm Cat 1 factory fitted. Oxford heated grips, well maintained, used but not abused. 60,000 miles, recent new fork seals fitted 2019, MOT till March 2022.
Fantastic looking bike overall for very little.
£3200 any reasonable offer considered. Delivery can be arranged at extra cost.
Apologies if I am position this in the wrong place.

Afternoon Gents,
I have a question regarding my 2003 Gen1 Fazer (1000), Not every time but maybe once every 5-7 days on start up from cold, with a little choke I get a backfire from what I think is the airbox? its not from the exhaust.
Not sure why this is happening, or where to start with resolving it, as its only started doing this over the last 4-5 weeks.
Is this causing damage to the bike which means it needs a mechanic to look at ASAP, or do I have time to look at it myself? as this is about the 5th time its happened.
The Bike is just over 41,000 on the clocks and I had a massive service done about 2,000 miles ago.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Mark.
