| Neutral light fault after replacing exhaust valve control cables |

Hey all,
2001 FZS 1000
I've just replaced my exhaust valve control cables and now have a fault with my neutral light!!!
Just wondered if anyone's seen this before. It's intermittent - just occasionally, the neutral light fails to come on when it should. Most of the time it works fine.
I guess I've disturbed the circuit somehow. I've traced the sensor line through the block connector in the left-hand fairing (blue/white wire), through the block connector on the left of the seat to the bullet connector on the right of the seat (black wires) and then on to the sensor. The sensor is a bugger to locate! Eventually found it on the left rear of the engine behind the coolant tank.
Having had all those connectors apart, wiggled them and re-connected them, the fault was gone... then, on my test ride, the fault came back just briefly.
Anyone seen that before? Is there a connector on the sensor itself that I might have disturbed? Or maybe I've broken the wire where it meets the sensor while I was running the new exhaust cables into place - it was a bit tight/awkward getting them in.
Any ideas welcome.
Cheers,
Dave

Hi folks been awhile since I last posted the rebuild on my Wee fazer, but with work and life getting in the way the bike has been sitting for a couple of years and the cam chain starting to make noises, but on to the matter in hand, tried to start it today started OK running a wee bit lumpy, then noticed the neutral light getting brighter and then smoke started coming out off the back off the clocks and then dead, nothing! no lights, no ignition, any ideas what damage has been done?

Hi guys,
New arrival to the forum here, picking up a Silver 2003 Fazer 600 tomorrow after quite a lot of Internet research!
Can't wait! Had a Bandit 600 and an old Zx9R in the past, but not had a working bike for several years (... kids....).
Already been researching mods, but the first thing is to put a good few miles on it and enjoy getting out again.
???

How's everyone doing?
Got myself a boxeye as a first bike, enjoyed it before this lockdown crap. An essential worker so nowt really different for me!
Had the bike off the road for about 6 months doing the things the previous owner neglected, basically the full bike. Hopefully back up and running soon. Wasn't very mechanically minded, but with the help of the old Haynes manual and the Yamaha service manual, I'm getting better. Also added painting and bodywork repair to my repertoire.
Finding all the posts helpful, some of them are inspiring me to do other stuff but done and spent enough getting it where it is. Plenty to do in the future!

Hi All, Ian aka TheBozBoz back again, I'm in the South East. Was on this forum back when I was still dispatching nearly 10years ago on my trusty fzs600 after I'd had enough of that I just used it to commute, truly a versatile ride. Foolishly sold it to a friend of punkstig another forum member and despatcher -are you still on here?
So had a fzr1000 for about 5 years now sold and recently bought a vtr1000 but I still miss my fzs600 so tonight I won a rather ratty 99 plate which will hopefully cure the itch! Looking forward to going to a meet!

(Apparently this is not a spoof...!)
Quote:Over the weekend, Ford unveiled a petrol fragrance for future Mach-E GT owners at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Fragrance is called Mach-Eau.
The OEM decided to create the new scent after it commissioned a survey where 1 out of 5 drivers said they would miss the smell of petrol after transitioning to an electric vehicle. According to Ford’s survey, 70% of the participants claimed they would miss the smell of petrol to some degree, while 24% stated they would miss the performance of ICE vehicles after the transition.

How much is reasonable to lower a fzs 1000 by using longer dog bones before causing any other issues? Could do to go down by say 20mm, is this reasonable? I know the bike will be more awkward to put on the centre stand, any other issues? Where is the best place to by some decent finished ones, don't want any old shite.
