FZ6 2005 Front peg mounting plate rubber bushes
Posted by: Dave R - 16-01-22, 11:09 AM - Forum: FZ6 / Fazer - Replies (4)

Hi all, my '05 FZ6 has passed its latest UK MOT so im looking forward to another year in the saddle but during the test I was given a 'verbal' advisory that the rubber bushes which are used where the front peg mounting plates are fixed to frame need replacing. I'm happy to carry out the work myself but just can't find the exact parts I need, any advise on part names, numbers and potential supplier details would be much appreciated.

Red/Black Gen1 for sale Stafford - previous forum owners?

Just wondering if this belonged to anyone on here?
Looks to be a very clean nice example but imho, a bit strong on pricing?

  Total loss FZ1
Posted by: NathFZ1 - 12-01-22, 06:36 PM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

Hi

Would really welcome some advice on what to do here. I had an accident on my bike before Xmas - it was the driver's fault and his insurer has accepted liability. They've said my bike is a total loss (Cat N). They have given me a fairly good settlement (only £150 less than what I actually paid for the bike) and valued my bike at nearly £1k over what I paid for it (but I got a good deal on the bike and actually agree with the valuation). I don't think the repairs will cost the full amount which they have quoted for but I can't get a garage to quote for me with the insurer's engineer report. I really don't want to accept the settlement and find that there's more damage to the bike over and above what they have given me for the settlement (although I don't think there is but I do not know alot about the mechanics of bikes). So two questions really:

1. Is it worth accepting the settlement which I think is a good offer and take the bike back? The insurance company are refusing to buy it off me - they are offering a settlement + the salvage value which equals their valuation of the bike if I want to sell it

2. Can anyone recommend any reliable garages dealing with FZ1s in London who aren't going to rip me off?

  throttle cables
Posted by: coffee - 12-01-22, 05:26 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (6)

hello, again, I've just fitted new throttle cables on my gen 2 fz1n ,I've never known such a hard fiddly job, in the end I had to pull the throttle bodies up out of their hoses to get the bottom cable in. when I start the bike up it misses on a low throttle and comes in on four after about 4000revs,it's running terrible, there is also a double click on the twistgrip which wasn't there before,on opening and closing as if the butterflies are out of synch. There is free play on the cables,I haven't a clue now whether it's electrical or what. Could I have disturbed any sensor or something ? there is a throttle position sensor on the bodies but I didn't knock it or anything.Any ideas ?

Motorcycle spoke keys and tension meters
Posted by: Slaninar - 12-01-22, 09:43 AM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Suppose it doesn't hurt to ask - in case there are any motorbike wheel builders among the members:

Could you recommend a set of spoke keys, and tension meters (I suppose this is done by measuring the tightening torque, with all the cons of such a method) for building motorcycle wheels?

Preferably available in Germany, but the UK works fine too - USA is a bit cost-prohibitive due to shipping costs bein over the roof in most cases, for whatever reason (guess they don't like Serbia very much Smile  ).

  Anyone with MCE?
Posted by: albuquerqueturkey - 11-01-22, 10:25 PM - Forum: General - Replies (17)

Just got an email from MCE telling me my policy will no longer be valid after 31st Jan as they are in administration, which is at odds to what they said originally (policies will remain until renewal) it also basically says if you want a refund you are probably going to have to fight for it, which is a bit shit as mine expires in September.

Ironically a quick MCN comparison search puts MCE as the best quote, so if you are in the market for insurance steer clear of them!

Hi everyone, brief intro as new to the Forum. I'm recently back to motorbikes, I used to race motocross as a child (Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire) and was in a display team called The Tigers based near Southampton. I haven't riden in years but always knew I would get a bike again one day.  I bought a Fazer 600 (2000 model) earlier in 2021 and have been happily riding since June. Hopefully I'll have the chance to meet some of you on the road in due course  Confusedun

  Fuel Gauge Issues
Posted by: old son - 09-01-22, 12:58 PM - Forum: Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner - Replies (5)

I have recently refitted my fuel tank. I have a TFT dash and it was showing 2 bars when I removed and when I refitted. I've just filled up and the gauge is still showing the same reading. I've tried shorting out the plug from the loom but the gauge shows the same. Maybe I didn't leave is long enough?

Am I right in thinking that by shoring out the plug in the loom under the left cover the gauge should be showing full?

Is there a separate fuse for the fuel gauge?

Are there any connections or joins between the plug under the left hand cover and the plug that connects the TFT?

Thanks

Rebuilt carb… These parts left over

Hi everyone I rebuilt my carbs on my fazer just for something to do over winter.I have these parts left over. I think them was inside the spring that goes over the nut inbetween the throttle arms.I have checked the service Manuel, I even checked the spare parts catalog l… I cannot find  what they or where they go. I assume it was inbetween the sync screw and spring but they are definitely too tall. They definitely came from the bit inbetween carb 1&2.. the other is definitely from inbetween 3&4..First time working on any carbs ever so I’m in the dark.
