We last had a Fazer 600 in the garage here 9 years ago. Many bikes have been through here since then but I always remembered the Fazer as a stand-out bike and I've had a hankering for another going on for a little while.

Anyway, long story short, I got one. She needs a bit of TLC but she's all there and the basics are all good, so hopefully in the next few weeks, she'll be all sorted and back out tearing up the streets.

I will no doubt be consulting the vast knowledge base here in the coming days and weeks to help me get her fixed up. Be gentle, I know little about these bikes having spent the last few years indulged in the world of two strokes  Confusedmash

Hello all,
I recently swapped my Aprilia Caponord ETV1000 for a 2000 FZS600, and it's a bit different!!

I'm a big bloke, 6'2 which is why I got the Capo in the first place. But I've just found it a bit too big and cumbersome for what I'm now using a bike for - which is mostly commuting and weekend riding out.
I found a great condition FZS nearby and snapped it up, and I'm loving the ride although I'm still feeling a bit cramped on it. This site has been great for information, and so far I've raised the shock and forks, fitted a topbox and brighter Osram bulbs. I've altered the back brake lever and throttle. On order are a set of FZS1000 mirrors, and I'm about to order a touring screen, flatter handlebars and maybe a jack up kit depending on how the next few rides go.

  changing air filter
Posted by: butthead - 28-02-22, 12:18 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (5)

Hi all, the haynes manual says to remove the fuel tank in the process of changing the air filter , do you have to completely remove it ? or if you lift up the tank on its rear hinge and support it as upright as possible can you change filter without complete removal ?

as a secondary question is there any noticeable difference to say K&N over OEM  filters apart from money ?

Afternoon all.

New member here based in Dublin Ireland. 1st bike and it's a UK import so maybe someone on here already had it. 2009. No red key ?. Also no owners tool kit. Any help where I'd be able to locate a toolkit for under the seat?

  Front wheel feels odd
Posted by: Slippy - 25-02-22, 06:50 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

My bike has sat over winter and it starts and runs fine. Brakes have just been refurbed and everything feels good. Apart from the front wheel.

At low ish speeds 20 mph I have to fight against the handle bars to stop them snapping left or right depending on which way I turn.

If I do turn slightly turn right my handles bars want to snap instantly all the way to the right and it feels dangerous like the front is trying to wash out.

Feels like a flat tyre but it’s at 36 psi I tried 40 psi and it’s the same. Front brakes aren’t binding, can’t feel any sloppy ness or grinding in the head bearing, suspension has had new oil and feels good and I haven’t changed the geometry by dropping the forks.

I’m stumped

Hello,

First post apart from introducing myself

I've been trying to use the search button to find topics that I need ( brakes, oils, clutch cable etc ) for my newly purchased Fzs,  but whatever I type in to the search panel it always comes back with nothing, I guess I'm doing something wrong ? Help appreciate

Just one quick question while I'm here,  I've got 5 X 2 litre cans of fully synthetic  10 W 50  ( bargain price at a local dealers last year) is it ok for a 2003 600 ?

Thanks for any help on the above

  Battery quick disconnect?
Posted by: Lividcoconut - 20-02-22, 08:04 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hey all!
Been lurking around using this place for all the great info for my fazer, so thanks a bunch for all that, saved my bacon more than once. But on to my question, I have to pull my battery often because I don't have a garage to have a tender hooked up when my battery is getting low, and was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas, I was thinking using SAE connectors to make an easy disconnect, but didn't know how that would do in the long run, so if any of you fantastic bastards have any better ideas, I would love to hear them! Thanks for reading!

Reshimming Valves - almost done but a couple of issues
Posted by: CountFazer - 19-02-22, 02:22 PM - Forum: FZS600 Fazer - Replies (3)

Hi all,

I've been getting stuck into a valve clearance check and reshimming. It's nearly all done but I'm having a couple of issues with reassembly and timing.

First, the front cam chain guide. Can this be inserted/removed with the camshafts already bolted down? In the Haynes manual the guide goes in after the camshafts are secured, and before the cam chain tensioner is put in. But, I cannot for the life of me work out a way to fit it in without removing the exhaust camshaft to make some space.

Second, valve timing. My timing looks slightly out at the moment, especially looking at the intake timing. I've attached some photos of the datum - maybe the timing is fine, so I just want to hear some thoughts on it.

Also, will putting the front guide in alter the location of the timing datum? Just trying to work out if I should factor this in when correcting timing.

Cheers

  FZ1 Evotech tail tidy Sold
Posted by: albuquerqueturkey - 19-02-22, 12:14 PM - Forum: For Sale & Wanted - Replies (2)

Evotech tail tidy for gen 2 fz1. Mine is a Fazer s version but I assume it probably fits the naked (please check) I took it off ages ago as it doesn't fit with a givi rack without fiddling about so just went back to stock. You can use your OEM indicators or get adaptor plates to fit aftermarket for a few quid. The numberplate light plugs straight in to existing loom. £30 plus postage or free collection from Cheltenham or Banbury during work hours.

Bonjour

In my mid seventies now, sadly the XJR has to go, its getting a bit heavy for moving around, but I'm still keeping with a Yamaha.
a 2003 but with only 15000 kms, needs a good tidy, but I'm good at that.
No doubt be on here for a few tips.

Cordialements
