Good rant there. I often like one myself.  A special favourite being cyclists and their stupid xmas obsession and flashing bloody lights, but i won't go there today :)  I make ya right with the trades of today, ya can't trust any of them these days.

So do u diy change tyres then?

General / Hugger
« on: 05 September 2013, 02:39:08 pm »
Just fitted the hugger which came with the bike, just the scottoiler to do now.
Not sure I'm keen on the length of the chain guard, it's much shorter than the original and leaves quite a bit of the rear sprocket exposed. Is this a standard or just that i have a cheapy one.

rover 400 would do the same and that turned out to be rotor arm failure or more the diode that it contained. I know bikes don't have rotor arms but does the rotor it have a diode or maybe the condenser

The worst bike I ever rode simultaneously gave me the experience of vertigo and sea sickness.  I'll stop there, since a true gentleman never tells ;)

Would be interesting to see the Magistrates decision on a reliant robin driver caught overtaking while doing a 110 mph wheelie. Is this a car or is it a bike

Decided to slip into the not so slinky mobile sauna hop on the saddle and blaze the trail to Maidstone Whereby I proceeded to enter HG store on my hands and knees pleading for the assistants mercy. No water was given but they were really great and allowed me to swap the gloves for next size up and as they needed to be ordered in they even agreed to deliver straight to my door.
That really is service to justify ridiculous high price (imo) for a pair of gloves  :)

Incidentally I rode down wearing a pair of thin leather police style gloves without pain or wasted thought on switches.

Cheers for your help and nice to know I wasn't alone red98  ;)

Hi AdieR  thanks for reply:
they're hein gericke summit GTX.  I tried them on in shop, asked the assistant for size 11 which is my normal non bike glove size  and they seemed fine, didn't have the bike with me at the time  :\ .  I've checked their size chart online and  xl is indeed size 11 and my palm is 2-3cm less than stated for that size. perhaps it is just me and the gloves are made to fit round the grip. I'll get a smaller handed friend to try them :) .

Ok, so I've taken to the roads in my nice new outfit on my maiden ride after 20 years of motorcycle celibacy.  Hitting the straights in awe of this new found throbbing beast now between my legs. Which unlike its neighbouring original shows an increased performance after hitting 40  ;) .
My only problem with the experience, other than me being rather crap on the bends is that my nice new pair of gloves don't allow my thumbs to reach up and across to the switches, indicator lights etc without my lifting hand away from levers and grips which kind of interfered at times with the flow of the ride.

Is this just me being a noob, are all thumbs immobilized. Will the leather/gore tex between thumb and fore finger stretch over time and rectify this.  I don't think the gloves are too small, even though real thumb fits to end of glove thumb  :rolleyes

Hi All
What to say hmm??
Well I'd like to class myself as a born again biker, but don't think 125's (tho one was an RD twin :) ) and a 400 dream qualify.
I've Just bought a 2003 fazer for my 45th birthday prezzie to myself.  I live in NW Kent and will probably use the bike to commute into London as well as  hopefully meet members local who are willing to let a noob tag along for social rides, lemonades and advise ;)

I just read a post titled silly questions where tyre pressure were mentioned for the more burly 90kg rider.

NINETY KILOGRAMS BURLY!!!  My knees  can only dream :rollin

So  should the tyre pressures increase with weight and is there a point where they become too hard for safe riding?
