Removed my grip and switch assembly last night as the starter button was a little more difficult to push than normal, cleaned it all out and thought that while it's off I may as well clean under the throttle grip.
Was quite a bit of dirt and general grime underneath which soon cleaned off with wire wool and Autosol, little bit of silicon spray on both the inner grip and bar, reassembled and all feels good, will give it a ride out today and check if weathers ok.

Yup, and unfortunately the last couple of days I have lost count of the amount of idiots riding without even basic protection or GLOVES! It may be hot when i'm getting ready to go out but as soon as I start moving all is well. Have found the best base layer stuff for me is some cheap Hi Gear stuff from go outdoors.

Not been riding long but I gave my chain a damn good clean when I got the bike and now whenever I get back from a ride around I get some Castrol Chain Lube and give it a quick spray while spinning the back wheel making sure to get the O ring sections and inner rear sprocket areas. Chain sounds lovely and smooth, get around 4 full rear wheel rotations before it stops.

the problem with GU10 230v lamps is that they don't give the same quality of light as a 12v Dichroic, I have installed many of both and the preference is 12v anyday of the week, brighter and cleaner looking light. Just about to ripout someones GU10 fittings and replace them with 12v JCC fireguards in a kitchen. The builder / spark / kitchen fitter / gas man (jack of all master of ............) installed non-fire rated units in a kitchen with living space above.... tut tut........

Could be. Also the lamp holders burn up with use internally and make poor contact. Cheap transformers possibly . Like the jcc stuff. Works and lasts quite well.

1.5mm nowadays for general lighting arrangements in a domestic property.
Question
Is there living accommodation above? remember to use fire rated downlighters not the cheapo B&Q specials, visit a reputable wholesaler such as Newey & Eyre / Edmundsons etc as you will get better gear.
I avoid LED at the moment, too many problems with the drivers packing up, Personal choice is a 35 or 50w dichroic unit and appropriate transformer, remember to give sufficient breathing space for the transformers when in the void.
Remember that all the work you are doing is notifiable and comes under Part P of the building regs, either inform building control for them to inspect or employ a Part P approved contractor to carry it out.

Like a tw@ managed to drop my Shark S700 S on Friday so needed a new lid, decided to push the boat out a bit and got a Shoei XR1100 in Enigma colour scheme, not had chance to check it for wind noise as bike is off the road until Thursday for new tyres but first impressions comfort wise are very good. Will update when I have had a blast out on it. Will try not to drop this one.

Decided not to take a chance with the lid even though it was only a 3ft fall, got myself a Shoei XR1100 now and will send the Shark S700s back for inspection and a new visor. Expensive game this biking lark

Well, took a ride out to Matlock Bath yesterday, did the usual checks on oil / water / brake fluid / lights etc etc and inflated the tyres to recommended pressure (36/42 psi for me)
Was about to go out today and thought even though it's only been 24 hours that I should check them again, rear showed 5psi!!!!! I thought my gauge was busted until I pressed the tyre................... F**K!!!!, nail right in the middle of the tread, what an absolute b*****d....
Decided then to check my front pressures just in case, had hung my helmet on the throttle side of the bike "just for a minute" while doing the pressures, moved the bars ever so slightly and bang, down it went....... right on the crown, scratched all the paint and visor. Not happy.
Costs - New tyres (going for a matching pair as don't fancy mixed rubber - BT023 - £250 fitted.

Ref overtakes...dont want to sound patronising but in any situation , its never safe to overtake any vehicle at a junction unless its actually making the turn, but even then some car drivers swing completely round as they are trying to turn around !Personally I never trust any other vehicle to do what its indicators are saying ....as for schools...well the driver could be looking for little johnny...sees them on wrong side of road where supposed to be, impulse makes them just turn !
Don't worry mate, lesson learned on this one. Will now ride with the assumption that everyone in a cage is out to kill me!

Had my first proper near accident on Saturday, blonde woman driving a peugeot 207, indicating left to take next junction, road ahead clear so I move right to overtake at around 25mph, she then indicates right and immediately turns right into a school driveway, did my emergency stop quite well except for hanging a bit on the throttle and after a round of f**ks!!!!!!!!!!! rode on. Woke me up to the dangers of dumb drivers once again. She carried on oblivious to what she had done....................................... typical.
Dont give up though, not been riding long but the freedom and joy of riding is too good to miss. As other have said, and as I will be next year, get better trained and perhaps ride with buddies, follow other riders and see how they handle things. As Karlo said to me last Friday, ride at your own pace.

congrats, I got my bike before passing my test too, the dealer held it until the day I passed, passed before midday 13/6/2012 and bike delivered by 6pm, much to the other halfs delight (not).
Good luck with test, don't panic and relax. It's not as bad as you think it will be, just do your homework before you go.

Update, had some money left at end of holiday last week so bought the trousers as well. Nice fit but haven't had the chance to wear them out on the bike yet.Apparently 34"waist is large now.I was quite offended 
Took the plunge and got mine last Friday, removed the water proof liner but left the thermal one in as I was out for the evening on the bike and they feel very comfortable to me, had to go for the slightly larger XL size (36 waist FATTY!) but fit nice and snug. Nice gentle cooling effect as you go along without being cold. Doubt I would use them in the winter and revert back to my Alpha II's instead but for a summer do it all trouser and jacket combo they perform well. Jacket with no liners is very breezy, always take the thermal in my tailbag.

Double bubble screens do not work,save your money mate... 
I just changed my screen to the puig double bubble screen, I wouldn't say that it doesn't work, it merely changes the flow slightly which for me at 6ft and a bit has helped. Before I had a very low frequency buffeting within the helmet that made journeys at more than 65 mph uncomfortable even with ear plugs, since changing the screen this has been reduced enough to make it less of an inconvenience. It looks better than the stock screen too in my opinion. Certainly not an essential purchase, don't buy just for the wind protection but if your after the look of the double bubble then I would recommend it, got mine from BS motoparts ( http://www.bs-motoparts.com/) on ebay and arrived from Germany within 3 days, not bad at all.

Forgot to add that the front lens also turns through 180 degrees so if you mount it flat/side on or on the piss (as it will be with a helmet) you can adjust to keep the image straight.

Steve H- how did you mount the camera on your helmet? The oregon strap is too short for a full fave helmet
The kit includes 2 helmet mounts, 1 is for a flat surface, the other for a curved surface, I used the curved one and it fits nicely beside the visor. It is only held on by double sided foam but blimey it dont half stick! The camera has a screw in mount which is adjustable for a better angle and simply clips into place, you can even do it with the helmet and gloves on.

I use a Drift HD at the moment, it's pretty good as far as i'm concerned, not a bullet camera but pretty small, half the size of a GoPro although outright the GoPro does have a better look to it. Here's a link to some early footage, ignore the audio as the mic is crap and have yet to get an external one. Overall I'm happy with it as the price was less than £200 delivered from Amazon.

This is not a very helpful post but one of the main reasons I enjoy riding is it's a good excuse not to answer the phone, have a belly full of them while at work so I'll be damned if i'm answering on my time If it's the wench then I call when I have stopped, told her the time to start worrying is if she does get a phonecall when I'm out as that'll mean I came off
