My Schuberth C2 is knackered - seals gone so it leaks, visor scratched pin lock really scratched.
The price of the schuberth have really gone up so I decided to get a givi xps 08 helmet.
![[Image: GiviX08White.jpg]](http://www.mandp.co.uk/netalogue/content/images/large/GiviX08White.jpg)
£150 plus £20 for a new pinlock. £40 mile ride back for a test run.
The vents are great - my biggest issue with the C2 was lack of air flow.
It's also nice and light.
The inner visor is much lower than the half visor in the C2 which is good.
The down side is the noise - I forgot how loud a lid can be. :eek
Hmm mm I might regret this.
Anyone else had one for a while?
Hi, I am up for a new lid. hate noise, I think my Sheoi-shoe= shoei :\ isalso noisey. I have been told the hjc lids are brill and quiet..
anyone else agree?

A quiet helmet is down to a number of factors.
1. A good, snug fit all round.
2. The rider's relationship to the wind stream, which in turn is affected by:
3. Screen height and shape.
& 4. Riding position in relation to the screen and air flow.
5. More vents & spoilers generally = more noise.
6. Good seal around visor.
7. Well designed aerodynamics.
I solved the problem of noise and buffeting by replacing my lid with a different one. The problem is, I had no idea that this would be so effective until actually out on the bike with it on. But it was a very nice fit when I tried it on for the first time. It is an HJC RPHA10. But this doesn't mean the same helmet will work for you. The HJC IS-17 turned out to be crap in comparison, even though that also felt like a nice fit - until I tried the RPHA. Funny thing is, the RPHA has a number of spoilers, but these don't seem to generate any noise. Conclusion: helmets are an annoyingly subjective thing :\
Awaits "I tried an RPHA on your advice and it's the noisiest helmet I've ever used!" :rolleyes
Advice heeded
God its a gamble though,,,mt Shoie is 10 years old so I will see at the show if there is a good replacement then try it and ===celebrate

Scorpion exo1000 is the best I've had in a while
Some say...
Just bought a Shoei GT Air, love the drop down sun shield
I really like my arai chaser. Will be up for a new one soon too and might opt for an HJC as after using my wife's lid a couple of times, I was impressed with the quietness of it.
My Arai is really comfy, but the visor mechanism side pods catch the air and make it really noisy. I've tried earplugs but have never got on with them.
bought a new arai chaser v for less than half price
still havent worn it - need a haircut :rollin
will ride for food.....

so Nick, is this the range of helmets you like ?

I don't so much like the HJC range, but I do like the RPHA10. Remember it comes in two versions now; the earlier (now obsolete) RPHA10, and the current one, the RPHA10+. Only differences though are the visor and front vent, but doesn't make much odds. I use the visor from the + model on my earlier version.
The Pinna is the obsolete earlier one, but a good helmet anyway. If it fits of course.
I bought an arai quantum a year or so ago its a good fit, quite and comes with a pinlock as standad, as said earlier in the post you have to try them on, it wasnt the cheapest but it should last and if you work it out its not a lot per year if it lasts 5-6 year. but i still like an open facer for commuting during the summer.
Nobody is perfect, but being Scottish is a start
I got a Scorpion helmet last year. Tried loads on but I must have a funny shaped head or something.
The Scorpion is super comfy but is a bit noisy. Comes with pinlock and has a drop down sun visor which I
honestly don't think I would buy another helmet without now. Also, has a kind of pump which inflates the
cheek pads for a better fit. Don't use it but will come in useful as the helmet gets older and looser.
inflates the cheek pads??
is your username hamster now :lol

Recently picked up a schuberth s2, very happy with it. HelmetCity had them down to £350. Though Infinitely had a few down to £280 this weekend. Only down side with the s2 is my glasses steam up due to too much padding around neck.
inflates the cheek pads??
Ha ha, yeah, that does read a bit weird. The helmet inflates around your face to give a snug fit.
Like I say, not used that feature yet as it's a good fit anyway but as the helmet gets looser with age I might
give it a pump or two. :eek
With the help of nick crisp I got the is 17 see here http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,12268.0.html
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.

How are you getting along with that helmet? Would be interested to hear your comments having used it for a while?
