Hello again everyone - been a bit busy for a few months but I am still here shiny side up so far.
I need a new rear,
For those that dont know me - I do not ride in the wet and any do about 700 miles a year so I dont need a high mileage touring tyre or one that's great in the wet.
Currently its a Metzeler sportec M7RR. and its done 6,600 miles - after 8 years so I dont want a hard wearing tyre as its old before its warn.
Thinking of the M9rr
But now looking at the Bridgstone T31 or 32 or s23 or s22
What are peoples thoughts please
I don't do rain or threat there of. dry rider only with no shame.
Conti's have become over priced in the last few years,
Have a look around for PilotRoad4's that are close to thier sell by date. I got a set for my FZ1 a year ago for £230 fitted.

Thanks for that.
My worry is that they will have been "on the shelf" for a couple of years already - considering my M7s lasted me 8 years.
Am I right in thinking that the Road 5s are not available in 110/70/17 as I am now looking at getting front and back

Im currently on S22s, no problems, good grip, ridden on track, decent wear. S22s have been superceeded but still available so you might be able to find a good price on them

Actually I have just been looking at the S22 - like you say a bit cheaper than the s23 and are avalible.
where do you get yours ( I know you do the Donington track days so that is not far from me either )

I'm on my third set of M9RRs, fantastic tyre, great grip wet or dry. Under 4 of 5C it takes a little longer to warm up, but when up to temp you can nearly feel the grip when pushing on the twisties

Thanks they are on the top of my list but just trying to find stock of both front and back, I think its looking cheaper for me to buy them and take the wheel to my local bike mechanics as I will no doubt be checking the wheel alignment and the torque settings anyway and the front spedo flange thing already has a lug missing from the last hand fisted tire fitters so I may as well take it off myself. Give me a chance to give normally un accessible areas a clean and to re grease the speedo thing.

Check the DOT number be sure.
It's a 4 digit code, the first two are the week number, the second two the year of manufacture, so 0126 would be the first week of this year.
The previous owner had fitted a pair of Bridgestone T32’s to mine just before I purchased it. Like you I only do a few hundred miles a year in fair weather. Tyres are excellent and I can never envisage myself outperforming them. Various Bridgestones on all of my other bikes through the years have never disappointed so maybe I’m biased. I wasn’t so keen on Bridgestones in the 70’s when they were OEM for Yamaha! They have come a long way.
I've used The Visor Shop for tyres for some years now, there is an option to comment when buying, so I always put something like "no tyres older than 6 months please" or something similar. Never had a problem dealing with them. Take the wheels off and down to my local bike garage to be fitted.

Thanks I will check them out.

Yes the current set I have I didn’t think about that and they were already a year old

Just seen that the M9RR is being replaced with Metzeler Sportec 01 but the M9RR will aslo still remain. The 01 is due in about a months time, I wonder if it will then reduce the price of the M9

I have a Michelin Power on the rear, which was bought accidentally as I thought it was something else at the time, but as I'd got it online from abroad I couldn't be arsed with the kerfuffle of getting it swapped out.
It was a tyre for the future so I think it stayed tucked away for quite a while before I eventually decided to get It fitted. But, it turns out it's actually a good tyre, more than enough for my usage anyway.
And on the front I ordered a Michelin Road 6, which doesn't need too much explaining.
Where I differ from you is I want them to grip in crappy weather, which both of these do very well, and boost your confidence no end when you're in a rain storm, but as we all know you're not a fan of the wet stuff so although they are both great all rounders, maybe they're not for you, plus can be a bit pricey but they are built to last so you would at least get your moneys worth.
I'm more than happy with Michelin, and every model of tyre I've had from them, so doubt I'd ever change brands now due to their reliability in bad weather.

Thanks for your thoughts on this.
One thing that put me off the road 6 is that I read a review that said the tread tended to pick up every stone and pebble on the road, and I do come across a lot of that whilst blating around here in the shires.
I think I am sttled on the metzeler M9rr which will be replacing my M7rrs

NEW UPDATE
I went for the M9RR and from deamon tweeks
and they arrived less than 24 hours of ordering.
Front is Jan 2025 and the back is August 2025 Dates
Not too bad date on the back considering that it is not a common size and do seem to sit on the shelf longer

Can't say i've ever noticed any problem with picking up any unwanted junk off the roads with my front Road 6, and i'd be the first to shout about it if it happened regularly.
Due to a constant barrage of never ending roadworks around my way i find myself riding to the front of traffic more often than not, and you always get that build up of crud that finds its way to sit in front of traffic lights on the right side of waiting vehicles and sometimes can't be avoided, but it's never been a concern that debris is sticking to my tyre although i obviously try to avoid it too.
I just had a look around for Road 6 reviews and as an all rounder tyre all i could see was high ratings with very positive feedback.

Thanks for that.
Re the picking up stones I assumed that it was due to the thin "cuts" with the round holes at the end, I can imagine a stone chipping being picked up in the slit and flung off
