Yamaha fazer fzs 600 2003 model
#1
Hi

Tall order i think but I'm looking for a ignition switch for my 2003 Fazer(old on is shot!) I'm starting to believe these are reared then hens teeth. the wiring configuration for the 2003 has 7 wires but the earlier models only have 6 the only difference i can see is a feed to the alarm unit which the earlier fazers were not fitted with.
Can some one with more knowledge tell me if it is possible to fit a earlier switch or where i can aquire a 2003 model switch.

many thanks in advance for your help :'(

There're 2 models of FZS600 Pre and post 2000, both main switches are the same 6 wires.  No FZS came fitted with an alarm as standard, all will have been retrofitted.  If yours has 7 it's been put there to supply a either live or switched live feed to something, possibly heated grips or sat nav, who knows people do strange things Wink

Hi

so the switch i have has 5 wires in one block and 2 wires in the second block. They look factory fitted not aftermarket or fitted by someone else. So do you think a post 2000 or a pre 2000 would still work? ill see if i can upload a picture.

Hi I’ve attached a picture of the wires on my old ignition switch and the Haynes manual shows alarms fitted to 98/99 and 00/01 models. I’m very confused now?

Here's your options the first contains how the blocks are wired, 6 wires.

https://yambits.co.uk/fzs600-fazer-ignit...56183.html £49.99 the colours are a bit off but that's their drawing and the discription controdics itslef by stating 98 - 03 and 98 - 01 but there're all the same.

Or you can go YAM OE at £348.65 :'(

This is the wiring diagram for 03 FZS No 3 is the main or ignition switch, as you can clearly see 6 wires and to the left inside the dotted line the 2 connectors with wire colours.  Somebody has added an extra wire.

Ignore it they're often wrong, I've never seen a factory fitted alarm on a UK FZS600.  Also look at the Haynes drawing top left ignition (main) switch there's 6 wires only from the plug.  At the end of the day it's just a plug and the wire will go nowhere Wink

The 2001, 2002 Fzs1000 with the light switch on the right handlebar has the same ignition switch

What the blue/black is doing in with the blue/red I've no idea.  It's been a while since I've work on an ignition switch on an FZS600, I can't remember seeing 7 wires, but possible.  How many wires in the female plug it plugs into?

The Foxeye ignition switch has 7 wires and the Boxeye has 6, there was no alarm fitted to the 600 just connectors to allow the alarm to be plugged in.
If you look under the seat there are 3 white connectors with 2 loop plugs this is what the Haynes  manual refers to and the Yamaha service manual also refers to them.

Hi me again,

Have tried using one of these earlier model ignition switch but am having a real issue pairing up the correct wires. Can someone who's done this before please give me some insight as to what wire go where. I'm loosing what little hair i have trying to figure this out.
