Hello there
just wondering if anyone could give me the piston ring compression tool size that id need for the 600cc pistons ? Also do i need 4 ? or can i get the job done with 2 ?
Any help would be mucho appreciated
Cheers
dont need any if your handy with your nails and small probes
Ive tried that system a single cylinder but didnt think it was possible on a 4 cyl
I saw somewhere someone using a 2 litre coke bottle cut to fit the piston rings and split, then clamped over the piston rings using cable ties, once the pistons were in the bores cut the cable ties, job done.
If you worried about falling off your bike, you'd never get on.
an old trick when need be has been to use jubilee clips
62mm bore x PIE = cornish pastie or (62 x 3.141592653589 = just short of 195mm )
with a jubilee clip you dont mind wasting a couple of quid once done and they tend to come in packs of 2 at least
- im sure its a 62mm bore but im not pulling my engine to check
As said, you don't need one on the fzs600. As the bores have a slight taper, just go steady, compress the rings with your fingers, 2 cylinders at a time. An extra pair of hands helps to stop the crank turning.
