There are these kind of things, you'd have to make sure you got Euro to UK tho'.

@elbrownos, what's the tape for?
It's a German import so the lights apparently point the wrong way.
Last MOT the tester put the tape there so it would pass.
Dunno if there's a proper solution - the tape does pretty well! Its been there 10 months and not fallen off yet..

Apologies for sounding a bit thick, but what is the tape actually doing?  :look

As it's a European bike some of the beam is facing slightly to the right (kerb illumination) which could potentially dazzle oncoming traffic in the UK.  Putting a bit of tape across the appropriate part of the glass cuts out this section whilst still giving enough light to see the road by.
Some MOT places don't mind, some do but apparently VOSA are getting stricter on this which may be the reason for the previous passes.

So it's effectively still aiming the wrong way, even though the "blinding" part has been cut off?
Surely that must make the lights even weaker than they already are?
I'm amazed a tester would even consider doing that, let alone actually passing it afterwards?
I don't think i could put up with that, i'd personally have to get the light unit changed.

Agreed, you need to fit UK spec headlamps - it's only a temporary fix to get you through an MOT.

The bearing required are special sealed needle roller type and the Yamaha Part number is 93317-41761.
Go to this site http://shop.marksman-ind.com/ look them up as BHKM1730JU the dimensions are 17x24x30 SEALED, they are about a £12 each
When I changed my bearings a few years ago they supplied all all the bearing, but I had to buy the OEM collars as they were not doing the collars then. .
Great company to deal with and very helpful.
On a note about the tape on the headlights, I do not think that tester had a clue as to what he was doing. The tape on the headlights in a previous post in the picture is in the wrong place for the and wrong shape to stop dazzle from a Euro spec headlight..

You would think that the tape should at least be on the left side of each lamp as you are looking at it?
Not sure what's going on there, that's why i sounded a bit clueless earlier?  :look (it was nothing to do with the fact that i am clueless  :crazy )

Hey Unfazed - you the man!!!! 8)

I was waiting 4 to 5 days for the yam parts but ive just seen your info & they were 9 quid each plus ive paid 8 quid for courier to get them tommorow, all being well i might get my back on the road for meeting up with slim on sunday.

Plus your link is on here now for anyone else that needs them in future.

Even with the 8 quid delivery ive also saved £27 ching ching!!!! Smile

Ive had a chat with the mechanic & he'll strip it down tomorrow, best case scenario he just replaces the 2 bearings but he concurs thatnthe sleeves might need replacing also so ill leave it with him.
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike

Another happy foccer, we are an easily pleased bunch of foccers
They also do the bearing for where the shock attaches to the linkage.

As far as I can tell the tape does nothing at all!
So what do you do if you take your bike to Europe, can you get beam benders for bikes?
