Oh well it is a old bike so it's not bad considering.
Failed on lights, they're apparently a foreign unit pointing the wrong way :\ , so does that suggest my bikes been crashed in its history & had a new headlight unit stuck in bought off ebay & ending up being a foreign one???, never failed on it before but anyway the tester says he can get round it on re test by sticking some tape on to deflect the beam properly.
Also failed on 2 bushes in the swing arm where the dog bones bolt in to-not sure how expensive they are to replace or how many there are in total but i'd like to replace them all if not too costly.

If the tester has gone to the trouble of identifying specific bearings as having failed then it's pretty likely they do need replacing. I wouldn't bother to replace all the other linkage bearings though, if they're not knackered you won't reduce free play by changing them.
Tape and a couple of easily accessible bushes doesn't sound to bad for another years riding. Can't see it costing too much.
Cool well i think the plan as you say Fazerider is to get the ones he identified & then get him to replace them,
That way if theres still slight play he might be on a guilt trip & class it as pass worthy since he fitted them.
All in all should be an easy fux, hopefully!

Yep he said both from that side were gone, funny how they go on 1 side.
Such an expense for some poxy little bits!, bikes just about clocked 13k miles.

If it's only the upper ones that have died then you only need two bearings, but the sleeve (collar) will need changing too.

But they is another 15 bucks each. :'(
I dont want you to say told you so but ive already ordered the 2 bearings now so ill try & cuff it for now, no doubt the other bearings will fail bext year & then ill replace them & the collars.

Oh & it wasnt upper or lower that failed, as far as i could tell it was the left ones upper & lower,
That's what he pointed at anyway.but the mot fail sheet only says - Lower rear suspension bush has excessive free play.either way it looks like i only need 2 bearings.i hope!

Things tend to go on the left quicker on any bike due to the side stand- water and crud drips that way and works its way into things plus weight of bike loading more on the left!

Mine's a German import and last MOT the tester put tape on for me.
I don't know how you're supposed to do it yourself without a beam tester to show you where to put it.
Your tester sounds like a knob.

He did say he could do it but ive no idea why he didnt just do it then pass it.well that part anyway.
& its quite annoying that it passed the last 2 mot's with the same lights

There are a shedload of FZS600 swingarms on ebay, you could risk buying 3 or 4 and it'll still be cheaper than replacing those bearing / bushing parts
Currently 7 suitable headlight replacements too

Last MOT the tester put the tape there so it would pass.
Dunno if there's a proper solution - the tape does pretty well! Its been there 10 months and not fallen off yet..
