Engine mounting bolts
#1
Well I've been getting some nasty vibration through my right footpeg recently at cruising speeds which is getting really annoying and I've read here about people with loose engine bolts. I want to eliminate that theory but I dont know what bolts the manual is on about for the front as it gives 2 figures, 33nm and 55nm but doesnt actually show a pic of which one is which. Here's a pic in case anyone doesn't now what I'm on about. Cheers.

Anyone? I'll try and get a photo of the manual itself if someone needs that?

I dont know for certain, but I would have thought the two at the front were the 33nm ones, and the one with the load bearing washer built in would be the 55nm on.

see what torque it takes to loosen two of them/tighten them a wee bit more? should give you an indication?

I think you're right there, I'm not amazing with torque wrenches but doing what you said as a gauge it seemed the ones on the frame are the 33nm ones and the big one is the 55. They were all tight anyway, guess its carb balance issue or something which I'll address when my carb tune gets delivered. Cheers for the help.

Does it only vibrate while moving or does it happen when stopped? If it only vibrates while moving it could be the chain. If it happens when stopped then it could be the exhaust. Maybe try loosening the exhaust bolt at the rear foot rest a bit and go for a short spin up through the revs see if it gets worse.

I don't think it's the chain because it is specifically the right footpeg that vibrates like crazy at motorway cruising speeds, to the point I have to keep moving my foot position or my toes go to sleep and cramp up. The chain is reasonably new as well and I maintain it pretty religiously, I had a wrecked chain on the bike when I bought it which gave horrible left footpeg vibrations and knocks in time with the kinks in the chain. The vibration in the right side is like a constant buzz, matches engine revs. I'll check the rear exhaust bolt though and give that a try.
