Yup, just spent the afternoon blatting about the backroads and dirt tracks on my crosser, pulled up in town covered in dust to get a drink and the heat hit me like a wall when I got off the bike!
That's a scary little zig-zag going up there Stevie - looks deceptively easy before you start up it, but then you realise how tight it is...guess if you're local you get used to it?
I was born up in Cumbria, but brought up near Blackpool Nick, so not too far away. I've ridden the hardknott about 1/2 dozen times and it still thrills me as one of the most complicated and dangerous 'slow' roads I've ever ridden country wide! :o
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!
Tell me about it. When I rode it, I was just praying a car didn't come the other way. Got down the other side and there's an XJR parked over in a layby bit. Turns out he'd dropped it (Mrs on the back); No real harm done, but had broken off a pillion footpeg. I wouldn't have fancied doing it two-up.
Yep, it's tourist time again. Slow caravans, long tailbacks, steaming heat. I usually try to get late evening rides in at this time of year when the roads are generally quieter. Will do this when I'm in Wales next week too - the light is better for photographs in the hills in the evenings, and temperatures a bit cooler. Haven't explored the Cheddar region - another one on the list - what particular roads/routes?
Lucky sods, I have 12 hour shifts to do Saturday and Sunday.
You Brits are unbeliveable. It's raining all the time there and you still ride a lot. One slightly warm sunny day and you complain :eek . Come to Spain to enjoy a real sunstroke!
I do, I do... when it is a must... :rolleyes
No complaints here! It's much cooler in full leathers at 70 than it is in T-shirt and shorts in the garden! On your bikes, fellas!! :lol :lol

If your near Cheddar , check out the road between the A38 at Churchill and the A37 at Chelvey Bridge , very twisty, great views of Blagdon and Chew valley lakes and a good pub called the Ring O Bells , best time in the evenings after 8pm as a lot of commuters use this as a rat run between Bath and Weston Super Mare
