Couple of Fazer Questions
#1
I was giving my FZS1000 its winter deep clean and noticed a couple of things so was just wondering !!! its a Gen 1 2002 model by the way.

Questions are 1) Should the rear brake caliper have a protective dust cover on its underside that stops all the crap getting up into the caliper ? I have had numerous bikes before that have had one.

2) On the inside of the rear footrest hangers there is a threaded bolt hole which looks to have had something fitted to them at some point as there is a 'bolt head' mark where i presume something once resided. What was it that was fitted or am i misreading something. It looks like an ideal place for some bungee hooks or something similar but mine obviously doesn't have anything and its just a threaded hole ?

Regards in advance  Wink

For q2, did a previous owner have luggage fitted that would have attached here?

Yes the hole is for the pannier carrier to attach to.

Thanks folks. That clears those questions up then. I guess the previous owner did have pannier racks fitted as something has been fitted at some point.

I take it from the diagram that the rear brake caliper doesn't have a dust cover either. Phew, i dont have to buy a replacement now  Wink

IIRC there should be a weight bolted to the pillion footrests to help dampen vibrations, they get removed for the rack fittings. I have had my SW Motech rack and pannier mounts on for about 7 years now, so weights lost in the mist of time  :o

Ahhh, that also makes sense as the front footrest hangers have weights attached too  Wink
