Speedo works from sensor on front wheel near side. Check the wire to sensor is okay. Mine went funny after I let a garage change the pads and they trapped the wire to the sensor in the process. Every since I have done my own service etc.

More than likley it will be the ceramic drive dog inside the speedo sensor (one of the small tabs snapped off) you will get one for about £20 new.
Hope this helps.

it could be the sensor but i would pop the wheel off and check the drive dog first, hopefully that is your fault and as mentioned the most common fault

£20 quote will be for the drive dog which i think is the problem here,£140 could be right for the sensor knowing what yamaha prices are like  Wink

Mine stops working occaisionally and I give it a whack and it works again, I like to call it 'percusive maintenence'.

Red98 you were correct the first time the name is Dunky mate someone thought it would be funny to alter it due to a remark that was said.

thanks for your suggestions chaps ,will have a look in the morning hopefully an easy fix, last time the wheel was off was about 500 milles ago when i got a new tyre, refitted the wheel myself so if the wires trapped only got me to blame, will let you know as soon as,cheers.
