OK, so there is definitely a battery back up. This is what I have found in messages between me and Danny:
Regarding the clock resetting, there is small panel at the rear of the dash labelled CR2032. The clock is maintained by a small button battery - if you replace that it should get the clock saving the time again. After replacing the battery you'll just need to set the time again.
I have also seen a message suggesting the CR2032 is replaced with an Lir 2032, a rechargeable unit. I'll fit one of these.
unfazed - I'm not getting a reading from the red/green wire to the clocks, well I am but it shows 0.4v! Before I pull apart the connector behind the infill panel, can you describe where the backup fuse under the seat is positioned. There is a little fuse box is it in there?
