Cleaning up/polishing frame covers

I need to clean up/polish my frame covers on the basis they are looking a little scruffy.

How is this best done? Looks like a lot of elbow grease to restorer them to original!

Thanks

Mine were a bit scruffy when I bought the bike 10yrs ago.
Factory finish is super thin Silver, then edges are ground on a belt sander, then lacquered, hence they look a dogs dinner yrs later.
While I had the bike apart for a full resto job I spent ages wet sanding all the exposed alloy on mine 400/600/800/1000/1200/1500 grit, polish with Solvol, then Carbon effect wrap in the recessed areas, it's impossible to sand these crevices up good enough to get a decent polished finished, hence most just paint em, it's the easiest option & least amount of work, but you will rub it thru with boots at some point.
I just give mine a quick rub over with Solvol a couple of times a year.
