I recommend looking at your wiring harness and start measuring the diffrent position of your switch itself. I mean if the headlight-switch is doing something to the ignition, it should mean there are only a few things that could go wrong. Either your batterie doesn't have enough power as soon as the headlights are on, the wirring noise could be the starter tourning but there isn't enough voltage for the spark plugs. The other thing is a broken cable in your wiring harness, old kables that over time loose their isolation and now touch each other. Hope it helps.
