My 2002 Fazer 6 has issues with the headlights

If the headlight switch is in the 'on' position the bike won't start and it makes a 'whirrin'g noise and there are no clocks.....

When the switch is in the off position, I have clocks and ignition fires and the bike starts.

The headlights don't come on at all or the sidelights but the indicators and break light and the taillights work.....

Anyone have any idea what this fault is?

I had it in the garage and they thought they fixed it but it's doing it again.

I was out on Sunday on a long ride and everything was working fine then.

I recommend looking at your wiring harness and start measuring the diffrent position of your switch itself. I mean if the headlight-switch is doing something to the ignition, it should mean there are only a few things that could go wrong. Either your batterie doesn't have enough power as soon as the headlights are on, the wirring noise could be the starter tourning but there isn't enough voltage for the spark plugs. The other thing is a broken cable in your wiring harness, old kables that over time loose their isolation and now touch each other. Hope it helps.
