Taking Gaz's point further -

The main issue is even before the bollox that is brexit, HMRC would come after us for VAT and import tax that makes buying ANYTHING from OUTSIDE the UK expensive -
  • On all items you pay VAT @ 20%
  • On goods below £135 there is no import duty
  • On goods above £135 there is import duty @ 2.5%
So -
  • A part that is worth £134 (said figures which includes the shipping cost) you pay 20% VAT = £160.8
  • A part that is worth £135 (said figures which includes the shipping cost) you pay 20% VAT = £167.37
As most parts I have seen on ebay where the seller is in the US, they are slapping on rediculous shipping charges. We then have to pay VAT and import duty on those, for example - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274787988361?...SwbahglGSV
  • The part is being sold for ($95.94, plus $107.04 shipping) $202.98/£168.35.
  • Once you add the VAT and import duty your looking at £213.02.
And at that point unless your really desperate you might as well buy new or hunt around for a used part. And just for completness I found the same part from a UK seller for £109 inc shipping - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255160257445?...wORFhWFFJ. Now if the US seller wasnt taking the piss on shipping and there were no used alternatives in the UK, only then I would be worth it buying from outside the UK.
