Viton Fuel Seat Orings Sets of 4 - Duckmang - 07-07-22

I recently went through my carbs again because the regular orings I used on the fuel inlet seats failed.  As most of you guys know Yamaha will only sell you the needle, seat, and oring as a set for not cheap each.  I went ahead and ordered proper viton orings but had to buy bulk and wait.  I finally got them in and installed and confirm the fit is excellent so I'm offering them in sets of 4.  Selling sets for 10$USD  stateside and 11$USD to mail to England.  Paypal preferred

That was strange as I went to our local Seal supplier who are 20km (12 miles) away from where I live and they will sell you however many you want.
I discovered afterwards that a bearing supplier 5km (3Miles) from me would have got them for me also in packs of 5, 10 or 20.

The fellow in the bearing suppliers was really helpful and informative and gave me this information

Viton®, Dai-El and Technoflon are brand names for FPM polymers also called FKM. All of the designations stand for one single base material, which is fluoro rubber.
This has two standards associated with it
FPM is the ISO designation and FKM is the ASTM designation. ISO is the International Organization for Standardization
ASTM is the American Society for Testing and Materials
They have a term called shore hardness associated with the seal and medium Hardness is 80 which is best for use in the carbs.

Were these o-rings replaced during Mike’s ivanising days as part of the work?

I don't believe it was part of Mikes brief at the time. The O rings failure is starting to become more and more of  an issue now due to the age of the bikes and lack of use with many. The ethanol content in the fuel nowadays doesn't help in the failure of old O rings either

Thanks Unfazed. Mike did my Slip On kit and the carbs haven’t been off since despite winter lay ups. Always try and use Esso 99 and some Stabil during these periods. Drained the tank last year and didn’t get any water out which was a relief.

Used to deal with them all the time until Brexit and since discovered a few local suppliers

Don't take this the wrong way, but I doubt no-one on here is going to buy from a new member, especially from USA.
We're having a reoccurring issue with scammers on F/Book Fazer group claiming to be in the USA.


We can source any bike components in the UK. :thumbup

Taking Gaz's point further -

The main issue is even before the bollox that is brexit, HMRC would come after us for VAT and import tax that makes buying ANYTHING from OUTSIDE the UK expensive -
  • On all items you pay VAT @ 20%
  • On goods below £135 there is no import duty
  • On goods above £135 there is import duty @ 2.5%
So -
  • A part that is worth £134 (said figures which includes the shipping cost) you pay 20% VAT = £160.8
  • A part that is worth £135 (said figures which includes the shipping cost) you pay 20% VAT = £167.37
As most parts I have seen on ebay where the seller is in the US, they are slapping on rediculous shipping charges. We then have to pay VAT and import duty on those, for example - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274787988361?hash=item3ffaa3f389:g:1nsAAOSwbahglGSV
  • The part is being sold for ($95.94, plus $107.04 shipping) $202.98/£168.35.
  • Once you add the VAT and import duty your looking at £213.02.
And at that point unless your really desperate you might as well buy new or hunt around for a used part. And just for completness I found the same part from a UK seller for £109 inc shipping - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255160257445?hash=item3b68bc8ba5:g:5akAAOSwORFhWFFJ. Now if the US seller wasnt taking the piss on shipping and there were no used alternatives in the UK, only then I would be worth it buying from outside the UK.
