On some of them, the bradawl pushes the plugging material in, then when you pull it back out the inner part of the bradawl is shaped like a blade so cuts the plug as you pull it.
I still use a very old school version which my brother gave me probably 20+ years ago, and the plug is actually rubber bootlace, which i cover in glue.
More people are born because of alcohol than will ever die from it.
